    i would advise against advance pay. they will have 0 reasons to improve their service and every reason to milk you for more money.

    Probably just buy a nice property out in the boonies somewhere, design my own house, hook up internet and all the basic stuffs to the house, get a top notch PC and then leave a few million to live without ever working. Then donate the rest to NASA or something.

    One billion... Chuck it into the bank... Well not all, maybe like 900 million? Then I'll buy a nice house on a private island or sth, and prepare an emergency bunker just in case something happens, like the apocalypse...

    Pay off family debt.
    Buy a large land and build the sturdiest house every with all possible security technology.
    Install solar power sources, water filters etc that can make it self sustaining besides food...
    Basic comfort and necessities, have family move in.
    Then it's time to get the gear in for hobbies. Gaming pc, devices, books etc.
    I can finally say bye to university and work...
    Rest is savings and family money to use ~

    No no no you don't want to financial planner you want a fiduciary they are legally obligated to give you good advice

    But more realistically I put 10 million dollars in the bank which would pay out of $100,000 a year at 1% interest

    Then after paying off all of my remaining debts and keeping some spending money I take the remaining 989 million dollars and spend them on some crazy research project or better yet pay 2 launch dozens of microsatellites targeting targeting the largest m-class asteroids we know of so I can technically claim them under international law
