was a collection of bits of past history and future events? Obviously none so long as to give away the whole story but long enough to make you curious about what happened or is going happen and why. Or even things that could happen, in the case the author hasn't decided which direction to take the story.

Usually it is the past of the mc, but it can also explain about the world where mc resided

I approve of this idea. Though maybe only 3 short segments that all somehow interlace together to affect ongoing events. Ala the Malazan Prologues.

What you are speaking of sounds more like a rough template, something the author would use to help guide himself as he writes, instead of a prologue. Although it might be interesting, itll ruin a decent bit for the readers, itll also take a bit of the anticipation out. Especially if one part of the template bothers them. Utilize anything that you find happened prior to where you pick up the mc's story. Be it a rough history of how power came about, or if your using artifacts, a story of what they are and why there important. Roughly think of it as an introduction to your story.

It sounds a bit confusing with both past and future events laid out but sounds intriguing nevertheless

I always liked a prologued that will make you curios like maybe up to 50%. But some prologues is not that good but the story plot is.

Things like that are always normal and tend to happen in stories so I think it depends on how its written

I don't really care. I don't particularly dislike any prologue with the exception of those that have nothing to do with the story, in other words something kinda stand alone...

The only time it actually worked for me was Kubera prologue, and it had well draw pictures, not sure if it would work solely on text, though.
