    Just a random shower thought.

I stumbled across Immortal Path to Heaven the other day, and it got me thinking. I mostly read Xianxia/Cultivation stuff, and I've found that Ouyang is a SUPER common surname for villains/antagonists. Like, too common to just be a coincidence. Why? Afaik it's not an uncommon surname in China. I can only find a handful of Ouyang MCs, and few noteworthy "ally" characters. At this point when I meet Ouyangs in new novels, I by default assume them to be bad guys.

    Has anyone else noticed this?

    Never noticed it-

The name ouyang is said to originate from Mount Ouyu (now Mount Sheng) and Yang riverbank.

All I know is that it sounds nice.

Ouyang is the surname of a famous antagonist in wuxia, Ouyang Feng (Legend of the Condor Heroes, Return of the Condor Heroes), so that might be why the association with bad guys.

Yep. And Ouyang Ke is basically the OG young master so it makes sense for writers to make that association.
