I see several that have wife in the title but are yaoi. Is there some odd meaning to wife in chinese that makes it acceptable to use when the tag is yaoi? I was just wondering as i found it odd.

I always figured wife was used to refer to the submissive in the relationship. I've seen the FL calling the ML wife in a couple of those black belly miss novels so I don't think the misuse is strictly for homosexual relationships.
Not that I read much yaoi, but yeah, this. If you think about all the times where the FL has called the ML wife, it will be when she's being assertive. Currently re-reading To Be a Virtuous Wife and she will call her man, 'Beauty', in the way a man would. "Does the beauty like this?" "Follow me, I will keep the beauty fed." Or something.
I hate this as well. And I grew, so now I can guess any CN novel with it's title if it is gay with a 99% accuracy. But there are also yaoi JP manga with wife as title. This should be forbidden. -.-
