Oh man, so true. I went too +18 manhwa rabbit hole recently and I honestly just either in "wtf are you doing" state or otherwise outraged by the plot. I mean you can't even get aroused because every character is just so stupid. I mean these authors are actually pretty talented by they freaking waste their time writing stories where everyone is essentially an total scum.
Not to mention literally whole freaking story seems to be somehow against people that actually like each other being together It's continuous impossible coincidences and characters being stupid blocking that from happening. Then only after everything has gone to hell and timeskip, we just get some unsatisfying ending of them meeting once. Sometimes there might not even be that, just straight everything goes to hell.

 

Yeah, as far as my knowledge goes Koreans absolutely love Soap Operas and mega drama (just look at some of their daytime tv and such) so never go reading anything Korean tagged heavily with drama because you'll get the most over of the soap opera you've ever seen plus some more lol, unless that's what you're looking for in that case go for it. Just steer clear of drama and you'll be able to enjoy all the other high quality novels/manhua they put out at least that's what I do I see drama I steer clear.

 

Why are most of you reading porn for the story and not just the "plot"?

 

Whenever someone asks this, the only replies I ever see are like "yes, they are indeed like that" or "different people/ cultures like different things". But I've never seen an actual reason for why a whole nation would enjoy a specific fetish which most other people are repulsed by.

eh, it was the same when the mainstream translations were for mangas, manhuas, and manhwas. You had a lot of really talented Korean storytellers using some heartburn NTR to get you riled up. I don't remember the names anymore because it's been awhile, but at least half the ones I read were ntr (and none of this was 18+ material either, just normal stuff). Some kind of mind break, mind wipe, powerful to weak FL, blackmail, etc.

It's interesting because I don't mind it as a tag for an 18+ "academic" material, but it's painful for me in normal stories. Maybe because when it's just an 18+ tag, it's short enough for me not to get attached to the characters to get the feedback from all the suffering they go through. Heck, I can't even stand dramas for that same reason : too long of a suffering. Give me that short sweet burn that fades away quickly, like wasabi, don't give me neverending spice that builds up over time. Even if it's resolved in the end, I can't stand that type of emotional thrashing. So yea, to me ntr webtoons and doujins are less emotionally troubling than normal romantic Kdramas.
