Question What's your most unpopular opinion about male leads?

Mine is sometimes I understand them better than MC, especially if the MC is a FL.

Most of the things I have read so far, the FL seems to be too annoying to be relatable. So, I either I gravitate more to the ML or the second lead.

 

Chu Feng, not enough raping.

 

Novels just needs bbm as MC.

Something like mushoku tensei but the MC himself(body) from earth.

I dont like the pig duke one though. Too much snorting.

 

That I don’t like unhealthily possessive relationships and that I don’t find relationships where one side is completely uninterested but is pursued until forced to be interested as cute. Also, that I find extreme power imbalances where one party makes all the decisions for the relationship without permission or consultation unhealthy.

 

they make for better protags so just skip female protag and make the asshole the protag instead!

Most male leads (besides CN novels which have their own problems of assholes, rape, people being total dicks, etc) lack resolve. They usually know what they want, what woman they want to be with, what villain they need to destroy, and if it's a time travel/reincarnation/otome game/isekai then they know what they need to do but they just spend tens of chapters agonizing over the smallest decisions because they don't have the resolve to follow through with their plan/words/actions/etc.

 

When will we get a novel with gluttony in it's title that's actually remotely a foodie and or fat

 

Pacing is the worst thing in CN novels I hear.

...I'm not sure if this as unpopular but it's true.

I need to cross to that genre. I'm pretty tired of two people chasing other and readers moaning about the state of the character's relationship.

 

My unpopular opinion is this:
Most of the time, ML action are correct in their situation (MOST, as there are some braindead ML).
Some ML will get over their head from getting some affection signal but will deny themself of it to avoid being conceited. This is true IRL
People will will waver if their choice will change their or other live, this is normal.

CN ML aren't counted here, they're just like Ozai, an asshole.

 

....from most that i have read,, if the ML is the power in the relationship, it's a definitely a popular opinion. not to sound like an ass but I haven't heard where the FL was the dominant one in the relationship. if you have recs, I will appreciate it .

It's funny how the trope for CN and JP male lead is the opposite end of the spectrum. On one side you get this trigger happy murderous overproud lead that will murder your entire family if you hurt his third wife. On the other you have this pacifist undecided low profile guy with a lack of resolve to even ask out a girl.

 

Peerless alchemist FL is a total top in the relationship and ML doesn’t show off how powerful he is

mc's in chinese novels have the most flimsy excuses to turn into murdering psychopaths.

"kill the clan because you can't leave hidden dangers" and all that shit...

Of couse, a lot of people will go "yeah go kill kill that's a great reason!", but then killing a clan includes killing children, but that's not often mentioned in the story, is it? it's just implied. Meaning that readers are ok if their "hero" massacres children, as long as they don't have to think about it too much.

imo, this shows a lot of similarities with the real world, which is sad, because i personally believe people who read are mostly among the smarter ones, (and no you're not geniuses just because you read, i did not say that), and if even the generally smarter ones already think like that, even if unknowingly, it does not bode well for humanity in general.

 

They all got their problems, depending on the novel some actions can be seen great in some while the same actions can be seen bad in other novels
