Question Where are all the Chinese tops?

Oh what naïve little lambs.
Top/gong/seme refers to who is on top in BL (boys love, as in gay relationship), and respectivly bottom/shou/uke is on the reciving end.

 

I just realized that I have only 1 top MC out of 52 BL novels that I have read.

 

Real talk though.

I don't know if this is the difference between reality and fiction, but most non-het guys I know (myself included) are willing to be either top or bottom (or are open to the idea of switching).

But maybe this is just an American thing/cultural differences...?

P.S. If anyone knows of a vers MC, please lmk.

 

I think it's just that most of the danmei is written by women for women so they write strictly bottoms for MC's. I'm a total top that married a vers guy, and he'd never turn down a chance to top, it was so unrealistic when Momo of Legendary's Master Wife just decided not to take the offer to top his boyfriend.

My chrysanthemum is always in danger, send help.

Edit: There are more tops in Bara mangas, but then again that's manga and only there for wank material, not much story unlike novels.

 

That's been my running theory as well.

I believe if there were more male danmei authors, there would at least be more moments where MCs and MLs have a much more serious talk about their roles in sex (unlike where it's played for comic relief like in stories like LMW).

This has more to do with individual characters struggling with their own identity of masculinity and less about couple dynamics, which I understand, is quite difficult to write about if you're a female author.

P.S. - Keep that attitude. It'll let your spouse cherish the times when he gets a turn, haha.

I usually just google/search around danmeila for stories to read. In chinese 主攻 means top mc.(主受 Is bottom mc)
