Gauntlets and boots with retractable spikes. Arm guards and greaves with a spike for elbow and knee strikes. Scale mail armor for maximized flexibility and defense. Optional Lightning and/or Light magic for support. In general I'd fall under the brawler/magic brawler class.
I prefer to duel wield swords / short swords / daggers. What ever is in my off hand has to be shorter than the one in my primary. That means a one handed sword in my right and a short sword in my left. Or a Short sword in my right and dagger in my left. Except for sword I'd also go with duel short swords and duel daggers but only as a 2nd option.
You are literally the only person I've ever met who understood that dual wielding weapons of equal length is moronic. Good on ya.
Dual wielding with swords of equal length is dumb. The movement of the swords will interfere with each other. That basically defeats the purpose of dual wielding. Part of why SAO annoyed me.
The left hand for defending or close combat and the right hand for extended reach also the stuff @Novelty said. Though I've never met anyone else who understood this point either so yay! Not to mention your avatar is literally my favorite color so double YAY!! Though to be perfectly honest I've seen some of the stances of Miyamoto Musashi's Niten Ichi Ryu and its fighting style uses 2 long swords 1 short sword or a single sword. Its probably my most respected sword style.
not all same length weapon dual wield are stupid take a look at sais nunchucks and tonfas they work in conjunction 2 their size ._.
Two daggers, although I would also want to pair that with poison for extra damage. Other than that I would use needles or a long sword.
