But outsourcing doesn't necessarily produce better results. And the budget for hiring competent personnel may be too much for some productions.

I don't know the budget these xianxia shows possess, but if it truly is "ridiculous", then I would presume that they either are incapable to succeed in incorporating CGI due to time constraints, quality of personnel or budget constraints in that specific area.

I don't think Xianxia shows or any tv show for that matter (except GoT) would squander tons of money on special effects.

Basically, I believe it is a personnel issue. I read an article about the ridiculous salaries stars are commanding and that's why the live-action TV shows have so many episodes. The more episodes the more they can earn since they charge streaming websites per episode
