Why do people rate a novel 1 star without giving it a chance to develop

I've long since accepted the star sytem to be a relative measurement. I take 3 reviews of each side and that's enough to know what to expect from a series(If the description is too vague or has little info). But it'll never be an accurate representation of the series. As for people who cast their votes without reading a single page... I am a bit sad for them.

 

Never bothered with reviews. I read the novel first it's either a hit or miss. Its only after wards I check out the reviews to laugh or cry at em.

 

Because some people are just impatient like that. They lose interest simple as that

 

Because sometimes the beginning of a story will induce maximum levels of rage like a betrayal for example, and then you look at the translating speed and it says 1 chapter every few weeks and there's about 200 or more chapters till the novel is finished translation.

 

People are assholes.

 

Because they've already felt that it's reached it's max potential and is a hot pile of steaming shit.

 

Because, it was fated to be like that. Nothing is fair.

 

Eh... I just notice which novel that didn't get 1 star or 5 star at all?

 

I doubt you're the only one and I'm almost sure some people are doing the exact same thing against the novels you'd like translated, so...

And then there are translators who only had motivation to translate the titles you or somebody else actively discourage and then give up translating entirely after they drop those due to said discouragement. Making us lose more people who could feed us translations.

and some has already read the raws beforehand

 

5 point rating systems are offensively bad anyways, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

 

"offensively bad" what do you even mean.

 

I think it might just be because I'm a bit of a data nerd, but it gives such a low variance in data diversity and lends far too much weight to individual contrarian votes. Not to mention you can't even give something an 'average' score, everything has to be either inherently positive or negative. At least a ten point system can give you a decent weighted average.

 

1. Mostly they're trolling
2. Doesn't read whole (many cases of reviews didn't even accurate, maybe because of prejudice,etc)
3. The novel deserves it.. i forgot i gave it one star and reviewed it or not, in my opinion, this novel doesn't make sense. Even fantasy is only a make believe, but this isn't at all.

the novel is about someone who became evil god with no interaction with any girl before. Came heroes party or some sort, consisted of girls. Defeated because he is a piece of shit ultra beta mc who trembles before the girls. Suddenly, school arc. Yes, 1 star

 

I use all 1-5 rating. A novel deserving 1 would be really bad, probably inconsistent with its own setting or failed to do what it tried to do. (Like trying to make it 'smart' but was so stupid it's an insult to humanity.) I rarely gave it out but there are some.

2 would be below average with many points to criticize.

3 would be average with common forgivable mistakes, or lack originality/creativeness.

4 is good. New, original. Some mistake here and there but the story really succeed in what it tries to be.

5 is seriously good. Could be used as reference there. Not necessary perfect.

 

Sometimes people do unexplainable things. Like rating a novel 1 by only reading reviews and not reading the novel itself.

 

There's also probably people who would rate a novel 1 star when they see someone in the reviews who rated it 5 stars while rating the 1-star rater's favorite novel 1 star for whatever reason.
You know, hating a hater's favorite novel and stuff.
