Why do people who think they can translate with machine translation exist?

Strawman is basically misrepresenting others' arguments.

Anyway, there are a lot more people doing machine translations than what most people think. Most translations today are like so:
    1. Bad MTL with okay-ish English editing (because they don't know the language)
    2. Decent translations with poor English editing (because they aren't good at English or aren't native speakers)
    3. Bad MTL with poor English editing (because they don't know the language, aren't good at English, and in some cases, simply don't care)
I'm not too sure about Japanese/Korean novels, but at least for most of the Chinese novels I've read, I end up giving up reading translations because most are the first option. Every 2-3 chapters, you have entire paragraphs that don't make sense, and it always surprises me how different the original text is compared to translations. Even when the content does make sense, chances are, it is a far cry from the original.

My point being, I guess most readers (and therefore translators) just don't care about quality.

It's natural to everyone. In polite conversation we do not use it. It gets in the way of getting your point across in most cases because all you can hear is the glaring ignorance.

Why would you do that? Just because you don't like mtl? I don't like when people do reviews on the translations instead of the story. It's insulting because it's like saying readers can't figure out whether they can accept the translation/mtl or not without some dude telling them so. It also skews the rating as well, so the story itself will get a bad rap.

And I'm not sure, but I think it's also against the rules to review the translation and not the story.

Sometimes, when the plot of my novel is at it's thickest, I actually resort to MTL and I feel my brain melt as I do. *LOLS*

I live in New Zealand where you can't take a step without bumping into an Australian.

OH GOD. If you didn't have that emoji I wouldn't have ever thought that it might be a bait from the original.

... I haven't once called you names, I've sworn as an emphasis of my emotion. What is rude, is calling you a name yourself. I asked, because a lot of Aussies call there mates 'c**nts-
. It wasn't a personal attack, rather a matter of curiosity. Swearing isn't inherently rude, rather a habit due to how your raised. I was raised in an environment where swearing is the norm, therefore I don't find it rude to swear.
