Discussion Why do you guys love your country?

I was thinking how people from some countries are so patriotic while I saw people who wouldn't give a single f even if their country was destroyed.
So, I want to ask you guys why you love or hate your country.
Please no politics since that's against the rules.
Only talk about the culture, food or other things you love or don't in your country.

 

People are dumb.

 

My greatest country is the greatest country in the world, but mostly because i can't name any of the others!

We usually get Japanese video games and manga before Europe, if they even do.

 

I literally came here to be like "And why do you presume that we love our countries"

But as a serious answer because it's a quiet place down under where most people are pretty chill.

I speak for my self but i just don't love any country wouldn't go as hatred for all countries but i wouldn't move my ass even if i could save every country from destruction.

 

I sometimes feel that it’s sort of “implanted” into our genes. Like “protect my tribe” in cavemen times, now it’s called “be patriotic”.

Logically I am aware that the current country I reside in is better in terms of life quality than my birth country. And most of my family had immigrated as well, and most childhood friends I had lost contact with.

So technically there is nothing which should be making my heart scratching like feeling. But it does.

Hence I believe that it’s mostly caveman biology ingrained in us. Without that feeling most societies would probably break apart.

 

Because my parents and family are there so yeah, I don't want it to be destroyed.

 

I hate my what people are doing in my country, I love what my country is supposed to stand for.

Those are all valid reasons, but I meant other reasons bound or unique to your country, like some specific food, music, mentality or something else

 

Blind patriotism is stupid, and have alway been. I'm not ''proud'' of my country. I'm happy i live in a civilized, well functioning society, which i would be willing to defend if need be, and i am somewhat proud of some of the feats my country have achieved in history, and i probably wouldnt move abroad, outside of wanting to experience the world, but that's it.

I don't believe that my country is the best in the world, and that all others are below me, and that my country have never done anything bad, and are the ''good guys'' of world history, because that is such a stupid and toxic thought process.
