Discussion Why do you read R-18 stuff?

Disclaimer: Obviously you do it because you want to feel pleasure, I'm talking like... Other than that.



So, with the disclaimer out of the way... It's been something that has been bogging me for a while... Why do people read R-18 stuff? Especially novels I guess, but the question is a bit broader.
I'm thinking of stuff that is purely R-18 btw, not stories that have R-18 content on them, but stuff in which the focus is the R-18 part of it.

I mean, why read a novel if you can read a manga that has artwork to excite you? Or rather... Why not see a video with real people in it that should probably excite you a lot more? I don't quite get it much.

I mean, I do get it somewhat, but I'm curious on what other people think.

Personally speaking, the few times I do read R-18 novels, I do it because of self-insertion... Mangas usually show the PoV of the Male too much, and GL ones commonly use toys which are... Not what I'm searching for when reading GL.

And like... I prefer seeing girls' bodies, so I want to see a focus on it, at the same time I want to see the PoV of the girl, so... It doesn't quite get what I want when I'm reading mangas. Novels do it a lot better for me because it enters the mind of the girl, which is exactly what I want. Makes me easy to put myself in her place.

So... When I do read R-18 mangas, it ends up being mainly because I liked the art style than anything, because they don't quite give me what I want on the pleasure part...

And videos are just... Dunno, feels wrong to see it involving RL people, never went through that.

So... I kinda got curious I guess? Why people choose specific mediums of R-18 things over others?

They probably read because there's a story thus more investment in the characters. Videos are random smut and manga are somewhere between the two.

Erm.. sometimes I got the mood for R-18.. not the horny kind of mood.. just

 

both the stories that revolve around it and those that simply contain it, I read these because it lets me grow as an author and shows me stories that interest me, even if they are not universal in audience because of their mature content.

think about it, most stories don't cover mature content at all and thus skip an entire aspect of the whole romancing and wooing arc of relationship building in plots. also, some stories are fun because the premise just makes little logical sense and yet you can still suppose that it may happen somewhere in the world, even if only to a very few.

those who write r-18 have to be very careful with how the word and portray to rope in your attention and so it can feel like you read something of a much higher quality that doesn't pander to people from all age groups because they are more forgiving of mistakes and holes. the words invoke your imagination to create its own ideal version of the events, even if they don't quite match up with the given character appearance descriptions, whereas anime and manga forces you to picture things as the author/artist wants you to and takes away a little of your ability to fantasize.

 

Good question. I personally dont read any pure XXX novels (thats what i assume you mean by 18-R pure stuff) but I assume its like how people have different ways they learn best. some are visual, some are auditory and some need hands on. I guess some people get better hard ons when they read it as they can fantasize it better? This is just a guess though.

Kinda funny thinking about someone reading a story, while turning pages, saying this a good story and spanking the monkey all at the same time.

 

I read it because after all the harem, romance, fan-service novels that I read with no action such as holding hands or at least simple kissing. I just say fuck it let just read some mature novels if I want read than quit when I'm bored of that kind of stuff.

 

cause i want the MC torture the villains for all that they've done, for example for the aholes that rape and torture a village for whatever reason, i really dont want to see mc just simply kill them out, he should take his time and enjoy the process and share it to the reader.

 

hear my confession. my first time with h stuff was with r-18 novel. i am not very fond for ero literatures though. if i want one i went to hentai

 

maybe just cus having dirtier content makes it more interesting .. (i'm not talking about scat.. scat is shi*.. more ways than one)
