I sincerely want to know why people use black background in the sits. Even having research saying that black background is easier to read in bright places but long periods it spoils the eyes compared to white background. Is it because it's cool?

there are sites that have options that let you choose white or black but many do not have it, and it is a pain in the back to have to copy all the chapter paste in the notepad to remove the black background, copy again and paste in microsotword to read beter.

*I think I understand more or less, the sites have black background because most people read more at night and on mobile right?

Black background is better for your eyes in low light condition... at least that's what I heard. :cookie:

It's mostly for the readers who want it darker because they are probably reading at night. Dark backgrounds can mostly be switched to light ones so I don't see any problems(except for the sites with default dark backgrounds)

Dark BG is better when there is no or very little light.

Firefox have reader mode so that you don’t have to copy it into the MS Word.

dark mode is actually better for your eyes a bit. I cant stand reading on a site that's almost all white or really bright colors. dark modes make it easier to focus on text than light modes as white text on dark background is easier to focus on than black text on white, especially when the text is small.

light mode is fine if the bright white is broken up by more muted or soothing colors.

The intro to this review is all you need to watch.
Turn off your room light and make sure it's dark around you.

I use the dark mode for battery consumption as I read on my phone.

I find everything bright to be extremely taxing on my eyes, and that goes for stuff IRL as well.(I wear sunglasses indoors)
Therefore I switch every site I can to dark mode, sometimes force them via plugin and naturally also use f.lux.

While the amount of light is a reason why people prefer dark themes to light themes, it is a bit more than just black and white.

In general, bright colors cause more eye strain than soft or darker ones--and white is the brightest of them all.

I can literally feel my eyes sting if I suddenly go from a dark to a white background (the reverse doesn't happen), especially in low light conditions. This also happens when I disable my PC/phone's blue-light filter or raise the brightness too high, so I'm inclined to believe that dark backgrounds are generally better for the eyes (or at least my eyes).
