WWII happened. Both China and Korea were raped very hard, literally and figuratively. Resentment runs deep.

And chinese people are notorious for being fed propaganda since preschool. The chinese education which is based on memorizing texts and reciting them, has like 2 to 4 texts per book 'praising the goverment' and fomenting nationalism. Imagine doing this from age 6 to 18. Singing the national anthem every single morning btw.

I remember reciting a story about japanese people being enemies of the nation in a primary level chinese book. At age 7 or 8. I didn't even know what 'japanese' meant yet. As for Korea. while being a target of some petty insults, they aren't 'hated' tho. (The entire chinese youth is addicted to K-Pop and K-Drama). And even those petty insults are cuz Murica decided to plant a nuke in Korea pointing at China.

And while subtle, the japanese also do the same. The prime minister of Japan, Abe, fcking prays to war criminals every year in a fcking shrine purposely built to honour these 'heroes'. In a nutshell, asians tend to be way more racist than they appear outwardly.

they have a history of war between their nations so they dont like each other.

Also i dunno why you think its weird. Some people are shitty and are racist. Tho in novels sometimes i dont think its the author. Rather, its just the established characters/ world setting.

I remember Otherworldly evil monarch had heavy racist elements, now that you bring up the topic. Basically had an island nation where the people were depicted as incest loving savages, or so i hear. Even the translator didnt wanna continue the story. Which i dunno, that sounded kinda weak. I mean personally i give no fucks at all about racism in stories. I dunno why people get touchy about that topic. Like calm down bro its just a story, you know what i mean? People can be fine with mass murder of entire families and sects, even rape. Racism shouldnt be treated any different.

Racist would never exist if you know nothing of it. So in other words, you're a racist.

Let's just say it's part of national propaganda... Even Hollywood and Bollywood do the same.

Japan, China, and Korea all hate each other due to both history and politics. They all share a sea border, and try to claim islands as their own.
WW2 stuff made things worse, and the split of Korea means that China can’t touch Korea without American intervention, same with Japan.
The Japanese are xenophobic by nature to any other Asian country, and thus promote heavy self propaganda. You see this a lot with all the pushing of Japanese culture in their novels.
Korea, namely South Korea, has a few ties with America, and so you sometimes see that their novels are American friendly, but self dependence means it’s a case where it’s usually “the mc is better than you so you beg us for help” kind of deal.
China meanwhile promotes similar “Im better than all of you go die for my ideals” sentiment. Very rarely will Chinese novels promote any other places to have better stuff them they do, other than America, since they are painted as the overall bad guys.

Many authors are rather ignorant when it comes to other nations. That is why many resort to stereotypes. Even movies and shows do this.

First, their target audience is no better.

Second, it makes for an easier time writing when you don't have to make a complex setting. You can just slap down "these guys are the enemies. Here's why."

And third, it is hard to get rid of something that you grew up thinking was completely correct.

If the governments didn't create some kind of threat/target to unite the population against then the population would fight the government.

I don't know where it originated but I'm a fan of the quote, 'The IQ of a mob is only as high as the lowest member's.' or whatever.

It's like all that PC stuff. It's much better to have people whining about what names to call things then to have them ask pesky questions like, 'What are our taxes spent on?' or 'Whatever happened to those protesters?'

Chinese against korean I haven't really seen, but I don't deny it (chinese against japanese I did). It mostly stems from the following two facts:
    -the Sino-Japanese War.
-East Asians being especially racist (asian in general tend to be, but eastern asians take the cake).

no it would still exist, because it goes beyond race. I find racism to just be one catergory under one overarching list or reasons you may not like someone. Skin being just the most popular reason. For example i dont dislike blacks, but sometimes i see a blackie that just looks so damn DIRTY black, yanno? Or i see a pasty ass white boy who looks like he needs some feckin sun. I dont like them. Why? Either due to their presentation of themselves or how they talk or a thousand other reasons. Its alright to not like colors and shades, mkay? Even if its on people. Nothing wrong with that in itself, so long as you dont mistreat the person just cuz of that....sometimes you can get away with it tho, being cold to people. Like if its hygiene related. THEN you hate on em, cuz fuck anyone who smells like raunchy ass all the time.

Anyway. Judging someone based off nothing but their first impression is perfectly normal and is just part of who we are. Now some people like me are more honest about it. It means we know we have the problem but also dont really have any malicious intent for the people we dont like since we know its just a surface level thing. We dont dislike the person inside, just something about their outside and thats fine. As for racism specifically, I personally i dont trust ANYONE who says they arent even the smallest bit rascist.

Course, hate and stereotypes are different and the latter dont have to be bad. Like i assume most black guys have long dicks and like watermelon, chicken and weed. Which makes me feel close to them, because I love watermelon, chicken and weed too and they make pretty good porn. Blacked is one of my favorite channels.

BTW im SUPER racist against crackers(whites) and wetbacks(mexicans) right now. Why? Cuz they are comin' in to MY town and buying up all of OUR supplies.

They took our TP! Those mfkers, should stay where they came from. Taking my TP, my PT, my RICE. Fuck. I cant even buy rice...ah...im a beaner myself. I cant live without my fuckin' rice, man.

Racism is pretty common. In fact not being racist AT ALL is far less common. There are some evolution principles favouring it, and our primate brains never got rid of it.
And China vs Japan... well. Japan was arguably worse on the continent than nazi germany was in poland... and unlike germany they never apologized. Even now the rape victims are refered to as comfort women by government officials. The fuck do you expect?

because people are racist, because people judge others about what their ancestors did, without considering whether or not that's really okay, because once people form an opinion on something, they don't want to let go of said opinion, as it becomes part of their identity, and their motivations.

because admitting you're wrong at that point, is admitting all your actions are wrong, those of your parents are wrong, those of your grandparents are wrong...

it is not easy to let go. It is not easy to say; yes, my grandda hated "country name" because they harmed him, and he is right, but their children barely know about it, and blaming them doesn't do shit. It is much easier to take all the anger from all the problems you face and all the frustrations you have, and throw them at the easiest target of opportunity; said country. and once you start, stopping means admitting you were wrong, that your actions make you a bad person.

Much easier to say you are right, because then you're a good person.

or so the subconciousness of racistic people thinks.

these are things that motivate racists, and other hatefull people, without them really being aware of it.

Edit; don't get me wrong, they are not bad people per se, just that life is hard, and having someone to blame, for anything, makes it easier to bear.

in conclusion, they are weak people, mentally, looking for a crutch. Sadly, a lot of people are weak in this way.

Because most humans are subconsciously racist unless maybe your dad is white and mum is black
and your favorite aunt/cousin is Hispanic and your favorite cousin/uncle is Asian

What are the chances of that happening? Second generations do not count since second-generation Chinese Americans, for example, are too culturally different to be considered Chinese
