NU/NUF is more like an international community where all kinds of people from around the globe gather and discuss asian web novels, but what about communities on more regional level?

I wonder if such things exist/popular in certain different countries?

Instead of randomly googling with no lead in sight I've decided to raise this topic on NUF.

I think it will be interesting to know how active WN fans are and if lots of WNs are being translated to different languages.

Web novels in Russia are quite popular and WN community is surprisingly active.

It's actually so active that even I myself is a bit dumbfounded by it.

People read and translate all kinds of things. Starting from Asian WNs, original works from royalroad/scribble hub/qidian, not even sparing trashy fanfics and ending with all kinds of lit erotica. R-18 works are especially popular lol.

Some people not only read but also write. Mainly autistic fanfics and cringey porn though.

Tbh I haven't touched any of these works so there is a 0.001% chance that maybe I'm wrong and it's possible to find something good or some kind of hidden gems amongst these heaps of suspicious looking novels written by 12yo horny pimply slaviks, but I've decided not to risk it in order to protect my sanity.

Currently you can find around 15.400 different 'novels' on one of the oldest Russian websites (this number includes not only asian, but also original works(Russian) and novels written in English language).

An interesting fact that I've noticed is that novels for male auditory are much more popular than novels for female readers.

If you think it's normal than I will strongly disagree with you. In contrast to the situation with web novels, if you look at the top of the most popular Russian adult(R-15+) manga website you will find that 80% of the most popular manga are of yaoi and josei genres. Damn these horny sluts Thanks to the unrelenting support of extremely enthusiastic female readers this manga website has a 'no yaoi' option in any top/search option since ages ago. (I wish NU had it too).

As for copyright problem as far as I know there is nothing about it here. Except for some licensed and published LNs (which you can find pretty easily on the net too), you're relatively free to do whatever you want with web novels. After all things like Qidian don't exist here. So pirates are the Kings. At least for now.

    P. S. Actually at first I wanted to simply share a top of most popular novels in Russia and ask about similar tops of different countries (maybe I will find some new hidden gems to read) but then I realized that I don't even know if such things even exist beyond NU and if people will be interested and willing to share, otherwise it will be kinda awkward.

I admit that I am surprised at how fervent the Russian fandom is

Some novels first get translated into Russian and then into English.

I also get a lot of Russians using Google translate or another automated software to read novels on my website. For this reason, I cannot use any software that blocks adblockers since it also blocks translation software

Bro you can filter yaoi here easily. I think almost everyone has that filtered already which is why most of the fujo novel ratings are inflated as hell.
