I think creating a thread for breakdowns of various novels would help author's with ideas as well as being quick for them instead of reading tens of novels.

Since these analysis can contain spoiler it may be good to use the spoiler tags.
From The world of Otome game is too tough for mobs.

The world is a fantasy with floating islands, airships, magic and guns. There are constant battle with monsters, sky pirates and other nations so men are expected to die early. As it is an Otome like world it is slanted in favour of females and things like slavery - handsome nonhuman male slavery are tolerated and glossed over.

The setting is at a aristocratic academy equivalent of highschool age where the boys are expected to woo noble girls for political and military connections. Males can't marry down to commoner's as it leaves their house open to attacks from other nobles. This is especially true for border nobles with territory as opposed to court nobles who live in the capital who have influence and civil jobs but no land to be attacked with.
There is a social expectation for males to marry early or be regarded as Christmas cakes due to duty to create the next generation of soldiers before they die off. This causes the power balance to heavily favour females who negotiate one sided marriage contracts in return for allowing men to use their wombs. The daughters are spoiled and have handsome nonhuman male slaves to satisfy them since there is very low to no chance of pregnancy. Male slaves are seen as status and wealth symbols, the more there is the more powerful or rich the girl's family. Girls favour the handsome, influential, or rich boys as it allows them to maintain their lavish lifestyle. The fathers allow this because as the girls can fulfill their duty to the family for bringing the money or military or influence connections, or they might be hen picked by their rotten wife or they are willfully blind to how rotten their daughters are.
For the boys they have to delve into dungeons like their venerable adventure ancestors and earn money in order to pay for wooing the girls with expensive gifts who would denigrate them as friendly tip like "buy more expensive teas and candies and be thankful I accepted these paltry gifts. "
This respect female debase the male culture isn't limited to the academy, outside it the women maintain their dominance at home even though the rest of society is more akin to our own. Soldiers who die in battle are given small stipend for their family so women would send their undesirable husbands to suicidal battles due to how they negotiated their marriage contracts.
This inbalance is concentrated in the aristocracy as male commoners can choose their marriage partners so they are not forced to marry horrible monsters. Noble daughters can marry commoner males as they get something for the family with death stipends or a few more bodies for the family, and the marriage contracts are less harsh since there's not much to squeeze out.

As for how this came about in the world the author directly explains it in a way that also explains the Otome game.

For this world attacking is easier than defending and airships are affordable to make so if attackers can go anywhere and if they sink the defender fleet then they can fly directly to the capital. In the kingdom's history the territory nobles view the monarchy as the enemy for restricting their ambition and there was a large secession from a duke, while the kingdom can stop that the neighbouring countries would prevent the military concentration to crush the Duke.

Afterwards the monarchy created the noble academy with the idea of fostering a common identity among the nobles and for them to spend money in the capital so the school offers free tuition to attract nobles. It also allow the monarchy to vaunt their power and humble the children so they become less likely to rebel.

After the war there was a surplus of female and a shortage of males but this also concentrated wealth into the sons so they had money to spend attracting the most desirable wives compared to other rich sons. It was also considered gentlemanly to pay. This lavish spending later evolved into the current monster culture of girls expecting to be spoiled. Boys go into dungeons to earn money to buy gifts and crepes and candies. The monarchy knows this but tolerates it because it's spent in the capital and not used to increase their territory military power. And it was only by the time of the story that the population in balance equalized which meant more boys to compete with and the power balance shifted more to the girls.

There is also more to the academy than known by society. There is aristocratic education upper class for the first born and normal education for lower class for the second and third born children of nobles. And this is slowly being extended downwards to include the commoner as eligible students. The monarch's goal is to educate commoners so they can become leaders and replace the nobles, no more need for fief and territory lords when mayors and clerks can do the same job. This directly explains why the game heroine, a commoner, can enter an aristocratic school. She is just the first prototype for commoner scholarships. More will be added each successive years with the expected power shift back to the monarchy to occur in a few hundred years.

The nonhuman male slaves are essentially living dildo who fuck noble girls while being able to look down on the aristocratic boys and watch them run ragged. The boys can't easily fight back without good reason unless they want to be blacklisted for mistreating a girl's possession. That's an ameliorating effect on discontent for the slaves.
Half breeds do exist as human males can impregnate nonhuman females but the offspring are shunned because of increased chance of impregnating the noble daughters. For elves in particular due to their ling lifespan it's not a bad choice to sell themselves to become a slave servant to the girls. Food, shelter, sex and it's only ten, twenty years of their life and then they can buy back their freedom and take the money back to their villages.

I'll do one on ascendancy of a bookworm next time.

That's a pretty good point but I think this thread could help too for those who don't bother to go to tvtropes. Plus they can get opinions from the users of this site too.
