Question Would i be able to re-translate a work

Hey all!
There this novel that I really enjoyed but it was taken over by a second translator (completely translated now) whos work was not the best. Is there anything stopping me from re-translating the novel? Honestly its a great novel and the translation is choppy and does not do the story justice.

 

Unless said translator licensed it, you are free to retranslate it. No one is going to stop you.

 

Nothing stopping you, but I've noticed that if what was being retranslated was already readable quality...those doing the retranslation often failed to finish more than 10 chapters before disappearing.

I think there’s nothing stopping you and if you really love the story and is committed to give it a better edit, it will be fine. But don’t expect others to reread or support your translations because of that since it seems some people even drop novels after reading mtl...

 

You can. There is no rule that prevents it. If you think you can do it, then go ahead.
