The never ending drama with QI agains WW, if it isn't one thing is an other. I wonder why QI even bother with trying to Frame WW when they know QI will still be the villain in the end. There is no point if no one belives QI to begin with. It would be better to try to just keep distance and don't bother each other any more.

It's great to finally have something concrete. It's been really hard to take a side on this without seeing something that definitely delineates the rights of both parties. Without seeing everything, it's hard to make a full determination, but with what's been shown, it looks like WW's claims have some merit.

What is the timetable on the QI licensing agreement with WW?

What I am worried about is that at a certain point in time QI can force WW to pull novels off of their website.

Guys, don't mention China or communism. IT could lead this topic to a political one. QI doesn't represent china or communism to begin with.

 

You know with as many cultivation novels as Qi handeled one would think they know going after the plucky underdog never works out for the large corrupt sects

 

maybe in their lingo it just means they won't also give the rights to GT or some other site/affiliate as well but, since it's their's in the first place, they're not really breaching contract since they don't have to sign another one with themselves to secure the rights? kinda sounds like it's left in such a way that, so long as QI doesn't try to sell or post the chapters on WW's approved sites, there's no conflict of interest and it's perfectly fine to have it on theirs and try to make money from it.

it sort of reads like it's just setting up certain walls WW can work within. they're only allowed to operate within those walls, they will get no new neighbors for that license, but everywhere else besides the small rooms WW has been given is QI's territory and free game for them to use for themselves. so, rather than giving WW full exclusive rights, seems like its worded in a way where QI wouldn't compete on the WW approved sites, but, so long as those are left alone and QI doesn't give licensing rights for it to a second group, QI can still do as they like with it. something like QI can't repost the novel on WW or make books to sell on whatever WW approved sites, but since QI isn't any of those, it's perfectly fine for them to do all that on their own site instead.

that's a fair bit of fuckery, right there. granted, without all the info (and how translations can be... difficult to work with) it's hard to really say for certain but, based on the wording and the implied "misunderstanding", that's the direction it looks like it may be goin, as i see it.

There are always two sides to the coin. QI could spin this shit in an entirely different way and create more troubles for WW. He said they assume QI want to break the NDA. An assumption can save as well as kill. Hence, my advice.

The was a sort of explanations in a certain draft for IPO. Something about the US laws not applied to them since they are not US company. But most logically, anyone can get away from laws if no one is willing to bring the laws.

Anyway, quick search on Reddit about that draft

 

I believe the contract and Qidian International are under Hong Kong jurisdiction and not China's jurisdiction. This is important because the rules are different and the stereotypes being used would not apply.
