I found this website while I visited the website of fallenangelscans. So, I was wondering if this is a legal website or an aggregator website? (link - www.manga.club)
Got this from their website description " Don’t worry, all publications on MANGA.CLUB are officially licensed!"
Yeah yeah Many illegal sites have "All Rights Reserved" written at thr bottom .... Doesn't mean that they have'em
On fallenangelscans website, I found a banner that said that the scanlation team is supporting legal manga on manga.club so I was confused if it was legal or not?
In 99.99 out of 100 cases scanlation teams are breaking the law by publishing their translations. Every single manga published on the now closed batoto were in fact illegal. The reason we dislike aggregators is because they cause our illegal translations to stop, in most cases. Be it for monetary reason or psychological; aggregators stop scanlations from continuing(quite a few translators stop translating when they see that no one is willing to support them and instead wants to support aggregators). Therefore manga club claiming to be officially licensed sounds idiotic, when they seem to be using the translations made by scanlation teams. If scanlation teams actually approve of them is another question. To my knowledge the only "aggregator" that was approved by a number of translators was batoto (whose owner has now stepped down from the scene and sold the website to, what seems to be an aggregator) On the transferred forums of batoto (vatoto) quite a few have been asking about a new site which cares about scanlation teams. I haven't looked that much there but the only one I could quickly find was the new website mangalism.com which a scanlation team created as a successor to batoto. If it'll actually take off no one knows. Conclusion: I don't really know if manga club is an aggregator, but I bet it is. And as of yet there doesn't seem to be a true successor to batoto. Disclaimer: I do actually like and support scanlation. But fact of the matter is that it usually is illegal.
It is written in their description that the manga they post are officially licensed and the money from ads goes to the author so I thought they are a legal company.
If a scanlation team said that, it is pretty likely that it is actually truth, they are a lot more involved with the manga scene than most people on NU for sure. You can try asking on Manga Updates though, they should be able to give you a proper answer.
Author usually does not own the rights Its the publishing company like Shonen Jump that does and Shonen Jump will not license to a website when they have Viz Japanase manga companies or rather magazine companies bankrupted US licensees like ADV and started their own Western English branches Why license to a third party when they can license to their English subsidiary? It is obviously hogwash
Just because Jump and some other magazines have done that doesn't mean all magazines have, and quite honestly the mangas on this site doesn't exactly look like Shonen Jump tier in terms of licensing value.
Just from looking at the few mangas, I'd venture to say that they're legit. I think I saw some stuff that could've been published in Margaret and they've not engaged far into the douchebaggery that Jump is known for. From what I can see, it looks legit. Go crazy.
