I think it's a good highschool romcom simply because the mc isn't some kind of spineless black hole who is incapable of doing anything of significance and has no redeemable features other than "being kind". The mc is holding back with his obvious op mindset, knowledge and physical abilities. But he does it in a way so that he doesn't seem like an edgelord holding back his chuuni powers. If you read the novel then you'll find out that the mc has much more inner dialogue and scheming than what the anime shows. I really hoped to see more of that in the anime though. Also, certain side characters have obvious personality flaws such as Kushida which makes it more interesting. I would say that this is one of the more interesting Highschool romcoms out there. And this anime reminds me a bit of Baka to Test, except that it has a more mature feel to it and the mc + sidecharacters all got an upgrade.
Had read the LN: http://www.novelupdates.com/series/youkoso-jitsuryoku-shijou-shugi-no-kyoushitsu-e/ I love Baka Test so, you can guess how high my opinion of this Serious Baka Test is.
I have posted spoilers from the LN on the Spoiler Section, if anyone curious~ It worked fine on me though. Well, anyway, it's just the normal OP from the anime. I just want to use it so people can check the various quotes from famous people on it. XD
New episode is up. Arisu get some scenes along with Ryuuen. Spoiler Spoiler ED CardA genius girl from class A. She is one of two leaders of Class A. Her past is still mysterious, but she seems know the past story of Ayanokouji. And here comes the stitches from the fanservices~ Spoiler Enjoy~~
If anyone curious, they changed a lot of things from the anime. Eps.7 adapted from SS vol.4.5. Horikita should not playing major role there, but instead Karuizawa (the gal girl of class D), which lead to character development between her and Ayanokouji. It seems the rumour saying one of the Youkoso anime director is Horikita-fans is true.
I like it quite a bit, and I find Ayanokouji to be interesting. Airi's episode creeped me out though. Frankly, Ayanokouji and Horikita are the only characters I like. Everyone else is.............. ??
Although there are various parts removed and butchered by Lerche, but the anime is not bad. I hope there will be S2 in the future, because vol.4 above is more intense and fun than the current episodes.
