https://gomovies.to/articles/view/13-young-adult-movie-sagas-cancelled-before-they-finished/896 NOTE: I AM NOT PROMOTING THE SITE (since its count as an aggregator site, but the topic was strangely interesting enough) 1stly, do read the link to know the context of the post. This post is just to discuss things in a broad sense as most of the people here are reader's albeit with differing tastes. I am sure most of us aren't strictly limited to asian novel and you must have read at least one or two young adult novel from the list, at the very least, you must have either read or watched harry potter right. So what's your take on this info? is your novel included? If it is, does the adaptation do justice to the book? why did they stopped the production of latter books? Is it profit issues? Or actor grown up before sequel could be made? any books you want adapted but have no investor? (like artemis fowl perhaps?) Discuss away.
Maybe they're bad? That sounds like a good reason. Also, a good portion of those are just exploiting nostalgia.
Hollywood is a messed up town these days. Lots of TV shows that show with lots of promise get cancelled before they grow up. Firefly is a prime example of this.
read some of those in the list but its been too long for me to remember, never watched the movies since im not much of a movie person tbh~ i heard they were mostly really bad though ^^'
was there not supposed to be a chronicles of nick movie that was going to come out too but never did?
-Heard Eragon was shit as a movie. -Narnia, directors just dont feel like making the rest right now, probably. -Lemony Snicket, lead actors are older now -Percy is just dead, dieded. -Cirque, too many vampire movies. If they did 'The Demonata' series on the other hand...
Nostalgia is an important part of the film demographic. There are more then a few movies that failed precisely because they missed the nostalgic period. Ideally, a movie should come out as the now-parents that grew up with it are taking their own children to the movies.
A lot of those series, such as the Golden Compass, Eragon, Divergent, and City of Ember (it's not in the list, but I don't know the rest) function well as stand-alones despite the open-ended ending. Also, Lemony Snicket's has a tv series so it's not all that good a fit
I don't know man, I'm a Midwestern American and I can honestly say those are intended for kids in their teen ages. They are more mild and sometimes a little emo in their vibe (assuming as I only watched a couple of the movies in list and did not read the books). I prefer the CN novels as they are more ruthless and gory and geared towards a more mature audience. But hey that is just my preference, they may be older people who genuinely like those western novels as their writing structure has a more structured plot rather than mindless slaughter that some xianxia novels have (even though that is the best part of the xianxia novels that I enjoy, that and the journey to immortal supremacy).
Yeeeeaaah, as someone who has read the His Dark Materials trilogy I can see why it stopped at just Golden Compass. Only good thing about the books were the armored bears.
