I used to use backpack before but now Im a grownup so everyone around me thinks it's too childish to use backpack then I move on to crossbodybag/slingbag whatever (ladylike bag) to fit important travel stuffs (for short distance flight: max 4hours) as for long distance one I now bring both backpack and slingbag...

For Long distance flight what kind of carry-on bag you usually use?

Everyone around me use's backpacks mostly and so do I when traveling so don't listen to people calling it childish. I've got this nice and sturdy waterproof one with many compartments which I always take with me.

Depends on what type of backpack you use. I still use one like you might use in high school, but it works fine, since I don't really carry much. I'd suggest "upgrading" to a better backpack than what I have, but a backpack in general is the most practical choice. Of course, it leaves fashion and personal taste out of the question, but that's that.

Huh....I've never heard anyone call me childish for using a backpack. Long distance flights I normally use a computer case bag thing and a backpack.

why da hell would you listen to someone to tell you what you feel most comfortable doing? If you like backpacks - just use backpacks.
As for me, I use a small suitcase as a carry-on, and a backpack as a "laptop bag". Usually, airlines allow a carry-on + laptop bag or handbag, so you actually bring 2 bags with you.

Well, just a thought - if you use some weird backpack, that is all sparkly with unicorns and rainbows, then maybe you should just get another backpack. That's a separate issue tho

Is your backpack a “hello kitty” one? If not you should be fine with a “standard” color one. But if you are a die hard fan of hello kitty or unicorns or whatever- then just keep it. Why should you care about how others view your bag if you are comfortable with it.

    Bag dimensions- check.
    Is it comfortable- check.
    Color? Nope.

Who cares what they think. I used to carry a duffel bag full of books in my car so I would always have something to read. Then I switched to a backpack when I used to bike more since I could put a bottle of water(or whatever I was drinking at the time) in the side pockets and easily access it whenever. Even now that I read on my kindle I still use a backpack on my bike or if I'm hiking(not that I get off my couch long enough to do that very often) so that I can take what I need. Backpacks are great. Just make sure to get a decent quality one so that it lasts.

I sometimes wear two backpacks. One in the front one in the back. It looks funny but it works. I once tried using chest rig instead of a backpack and security seems to hate the idea.

The fact is, they're the one who's childish for calling something trivial like that to be childish. Don't give a f**k about it and do what's necessary, convenient, and comfortable

backpack is pretty standard for carry on as well as you want a spare change of clothes in case your luggage was sent to another part of the world

I bet you look like you are about to jump off a plane. No wonder security is interested in you. If you want to have a close interaction with security my recommendation would be either to visibly stick out some wires from the backpack or tie them up in a visible way with some wires :)

Yeah and add some digital clock for extra convenience with that. A good one with alarm sound.

Oh by the way after looking it up there now seem something called frontpack. I'd buy one right this weekend.

The beauty of a backpack is you can wear them all the time without being hindered in activities.
