I always feel that too... that's why I can't show to anyone what I read hahaha

That's true. Reading mtl might kill some of your brain cells but once you read it longer, you'll get used to it :)

*nod nod* I hundred percent agree

I only MTL if there is a significant amount of translated chapters. It's impossible for me to MTL without first knowing the general outline of the plot.

The feeling I get is like "oh wow so that's what happened in the end" since I mostly MTL the novels that I want spoilers for.

My brain strangely adjusted to the MTL English. I totally get what OP means by understanding alien language lol. I see the gibberish and my mind translates it to the actual meaning. I've read and sampled around 50 novels already.

At first you think it's fine. The you actually start understanding it, next comes writing and reading stuff in broken English. The last stage is when your talking to someone and acidentally say "I is also going library "

And the sad thing is English is my first language

Honestly, it 100% depends on the Author's writing ability.
If the Author is good and knows what they are doing, then even a MLT is readable (if someone what funky in places).
but if the Author's grammar is poor or strange, then the it can be really painful.

I read the raws so as to translate the chapters for my readers... I don't really know much of Japanese though (only studied 1 year), so I end up needing to resort to MTL.

Luckily, there is a dictionary easily available online, so I can resort to it to understand the weird sentences...

It's strange when I make my first reading without using the dictionary though, lots of parts get really weird.

Try reading a chapter that is translated normally and then the chapter the is MTL then you will get a bit of a feel on things look like when they are MTL and will help you interpret the real meaning. Or just keep reading MTL and after a few chapters it will start making some sense
