Sounds like BS. Unless the penguin is going that way in the first place there is no reason for that kind of detour. 8000km would take like (I'm guessing here) two - three months? Then going back in another two - three and bam there goes half a year. Penguins got other shit to do then swim back and forth pointlessly across an ocean teeming with death.
