Hi fellow translators~ I'm pretty sure if you went ahead and typed your project's name in google's search bar, you would find your translation on another site. (you know which site) I'm not particularly against them uploading this, but if the original author is fine with it then why not? They even include the translator's original site! (that's good enough) We don't own the work anyway~ The way to make their lives more difficult Make your text unselectable. (Not the usual way) Take a screenshot/photo of your text and upload it to your blog. They can still copy and paste your 'image', but now all your original text is there. If they want to make any changes to the text, they would have to type everything out themselves. If you want to make it even trickier for them, make your image background and text colour non-standard. But it might get tricky for mobile views... I'm pretty sure you would have to switch the mobile view off. (but people can zoom in any way) But, if you have a lot of time on your hands, I guess you could give two links: 'desktop view' and 'mobile view' XD - I don't suggest the coding method because it can be bypassed and your text will still be copied. - I used to paste 'colourless' watermarks between the text but they have a lot of time...they deleted all the watermarks. (And my translator notes along with it t-t) That's it guys, there are other methods, but the one above is really foolproof. You don't have to do anything else after doing that. Spoiler: But what bugs me is: 1. they don't include all of the translation (sometimes the author's note is left out) 2. the grammatical errors are not corrected 3. Most of all, they leave out the translator's notes and explanations (This is actually pretty important because most translators are not professional and we put a certain twist/style to our translations and other explanations that help the readers understand it better) 4. Another problem is that the image I uploaded was also included on their site...In fact, they make their text unselectable...but the image credit I gave to the original artist is gone. So this is unfair to that artist. Spoiler: On a personal note: I really wouldn't have minded if they wanted to put it on their site. But they didn't ask me first *tsk tsk* just ask I'll comply~
Though I get really mad when others take my translations, as long as there is credit, I not that mad. I know there was a certain site that took everyone's work without crediting, but I just found out that it's been shut down, which is great. And as for the image idea, yeah I am tempted to do so, but from my hit counter I know half my readers use mobile to read, so I don't wanna trouble them.... sigh*
please for the love of god don't post your TL as images, I ctrl+f " or [ to find out if its info dump chapters or not Q.Q also when I post quotes from novels to my discord, particularly funny moments in novels
I feel like I'm not in the circle, because I don't know what this site is that everyone but me seems to know about. I guess I could Google it, but I'm too satisfied with what I have to overcome my innate sloth. I just want to know, why would I need any other site when I have NU? NU seems to be about as well designed from a utilitarian aspect as I could ask for?
this will just make translating after a translator dropped a novel much harder, does it really matter if someone took your text or not i mean it will be stolen regardless of image or not, just OCR only takes a few mins for english to english, even if someone uses your translation, people will still know the source of the translation if its posted on Sites like these.
Search their homes..complete. Take a gas.....complete Pour it in their house....complete BURN ITTTTT!!!!!!!!
You aren't allowed to make others aware of the site They are poachers who steal translators hard work and steal away the unaware readers from them They are scum
you know those chapters where its like 2-5k characters of literally no dialogue whatsoever, just the author explaining shit you see them a lot in xianxia
hmm...don't worry I don't think ppl want to quote R-18 stuff...maybe t-t just maybe but there has to be a way to battle this and ohh okay, I get it. (info dump) : (
Ive seen those sites and they also have tons of ads. They get money for just copying haha. I still go for fhe original . Heck i am inclined for just watermarking but please release an epib after haha
Simple thing... Make translations only available to login users. Or you can use next link to open the chapter post page instead of the chapter... It would be diffucult to copy it then.
If you owned the content you could serve them a takedown notice? Press a lawsuit? If you're translating with the consent and approval of the works owner, then perhaps they can empower you to pursue legal action on their behalf.
