Well, maybe they will keep the smelling thing to women as nor Tang Thirty Six nor Xuan Po like his smell, so if the wolf boy follows CCS most likely it won't be because of that. Unless the author really wants to put emphasis in the wolf part in the wolf boy... But yeah this doesn't have any BL reference and I doubt it will have.
