Discussion Zongheng's tapread vs Qidian's webnovel

With tapread coming in, which do you all think sucks more/is better in ur opinion? Tapread is worst in my opinion for now.

Yay.. another drama.. with so many dramas around the novel translation site or against certain someone who owns certain translation site, it's more interesting than many novels out there.

I tried reading Return of the Net Gaming Monarch chapter 49 there, and honestly, google translator would do a better job.
And for some reason, Immortal and Martial Dual Cultivation is Reincarnation of the Strongest Sword God there.

 

In my opinion tapread just doesn't have acess to the same bank of quality novels that qidian does, but I'm for anything that will make the market more competitive and make the different sites out there work harder for the attention of the readers.

 

when Q launched webnovel, we saw a tons of webnovel posts....and now its tapread posts....what does it matter to you if its better or worse?if the license holders were complaining then that would be fair....but why r u barking?

Hyperdimension Neptunua is a Japanese game series which is essentially the console wars. They have characters which (unofficially) represent Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft and others for each of the game studios and publishers.

 

I miss the good old days when translation is all about translation. But now that those pigs find out that there's money to be made in translating their local novels, they started to bully the translators and give the readers mediocre translations.

 

May I suggest something slightly more practical?
How about someone give me the list of problematic series on Tapread, and I can put in a word to see if there's any hope?

 

I've only read one novel on tap read so far but judging by how all the characters seem to be switching genders (one moment being called she then a he) I wouldn't say the translation quality is all that good.

 

I filtered them the moment I saw that PUBG fanfiction.

 

Return of the Net Gaming Monarch, I tried reading chapter 49 and 50, TL cant decide how he should translate 乱天. in 2 chapters, I saw him use Chaotic Heaven, Chaotic sky, chaotian and Chaotic Heavenly.
Immortal and Martial Dual Cultivation has the wrong title.

 

If I may pop in as someone who used to run a translation site -- TapRead's site is very much in beta. The works they rehost from volare (and I believe WW as well) are done so with our consent. Some of the other works do seem to be MTL, used for placeholders as they get the site up and running. In fact, before they had any of volare's works, they said all of their novels were placeholder MTL. It's easier to adjust user interface when there's some actual content on a site.

Now that it's rolling into Chinese New Year, China's shut down for about three weeks so updates are likely all automated. E.g., placeholder MTL for a lot of them.

 

Their design is lit tho, way better than most translation website. Although the novel's cover is not that great, at least they still have it.
