Region locked? There's an NA and Eu version that's all. Or maybe nexon EU closed down actually, but then you can probably play on another server like NA.

I'll suggest Star Wars the Old Republic, afaik you can play at least a part of it F2P.

Though to be honest, it's more of a singleplayer game inside an mmo. But I'm not sure you care about this, since Dota isn't even an mmo etc. So I'm not quite sure what MMO is supposed to mean here anyway.

But anyway, it has great singleplayer experience, and of course if you have a friend it can be better, but you play this game mostly for the story. There's some addition to multiplayer missions (instanced dungeons) compared to singleplayer if you've got a friend as well, since both of you make decisions it can affect how you complete certain missions.

 

Tibia, old game like runescape, came out in 1997 i think. You can play free, but you miss out on a large portion of the map, premium is i think 8 bucks a month though, and can be purchased in game with gold, but you'll never get enough gold unless you're premium first.

Has pvp servers, non pvp servers, and very pvp servers.

Its also, really harsh of a game, die, and you will, very often, and you auto drop your backpack and everything in it, arrows, runes, potions, loot. You also loose 10% of your total exp, total skills, and have a 10% to drop each piece of equipment on your character.

Everyone from the EU and NA should be able to play it. Not sure about other regions.

 

EVE, to a certain extent, its F2P. You may need a lot of focus playing that.

World of Warcraft is free up to level 20 (but that's pointless, really, unless you're into kinky stuffs in Moonshire)
EVE in itself is very, open ended. But it requires focus to play that.
GW2 flourishes in utilizing very different mechanics compared to the usual "D&D style MMOs, like the OLD WOW, Everquest, etc. In a sense, playing GW2 is playing a different take to MMO.

 

Sometimes bad sometimes good with a hint of autism(it's even a running joke inside the community). It's like that one friend who has DID, sometimes being a real bro and sometimes an absolute scum. You can however join clan chats and have a very nice time doing coop PVM, skilling, minigames with them or just talking. This way you have less chance to meet the douches.

It has certainly seen better days, but there's still a lot of fun. I used to play it as an Imperial player in Orion and reached the rank of Princess. It's completely browser-based and you can choose to play as one of the four playable races under three playable factions: the valiant Empire, the cowardly Federation and the despicable Union. If you play as a human for example, you will start in Federation space, but you don't have to be a stinking Fed. You can make your way over to imperial space or an imperial outpost to become an imperial citizen. Basically you start with a small spaceship and make your way to the top from there. I have a Mooncrusher as a princess.

The community is pretty chill with venomous people getting forum or chat banned as soon as it's discovered.

 

Community is cancer.

 

I only played LoL Ph and Dota 2 (noob) so I don't know much.
