Request Can you help me plan my characters backstory?

I'm going to need help creating a background for this story I've planned after a long time of merging together different ideas. The story has the first two which is the place he once lived on Earth and the Azure Sky Continent but I need help in thinking of new areas the story can continue in. As a cultivator he can't stay in the same place forever so I just need help thinking of places that will become important in the story. You can just write anything you want in these recommendations.

It could be a place with a weird cult.

It could be a city that was lost in time. Anything is okay in my book.

Story idea: War of the Arcana Realm
The Azure Sky Continent has been destroyed by a great evil, and the only way to save the continent is to go back in time and once again fight the final battle with stronger companions, the War Artist is chosen as a candidate to go back in time due to his familiarisation with the new Heroes that we're going to be summoned using the power of the 4 Immortals that survived.

The story is going to start with the MC dying as a human on Earth, then a fast forward of his hundreds of years of life will happen and the place will change to the dead world of the Azure Sky Continent and start to explain what happened to him.

With the help of the four remaining Immortals he creates four strong legacies which he gives to his closest friends after returning to Earth. The main character will be transported ten years after his death and the first arc will be about his return to Earth with a half crippled cultivation base at the lowest rank.

He explains his situation to them and after they accept his proposal, he transports them to the Azure Sky Continent in the exact time zone he started in after reincarnating once.

He sets to increase the strength of him and his companions until the apocalypse hits once again. Of course, they will be travelling to the lands of every race in order to convince enough people to help him create an army to fight against the evil that will destroy the continent.

This 'evil' is actually the Arcana Realm's abyssal Netherworld.

tl; dr

...a fun concept would be a tribe that considers beast/monsters as sacred and view cultivators as sacrilegious entities for hunting them down, or as the envoys of hell, etc. the cores of monsters would be sacred relics. they could also be either secluded groups or even widespread fanatics.

remember that it is somewhat silly that all tribes / countries speak the same language. you could make a tribe that dedicates to live as translators and guide cultivators or merchants around, while having their own culture or religion or cultivation system. they could also be descendants of another race and have some special power but are curious about human culture si they stick around.

a pacifist cultivator tribe / sect would be neat, too, possesing a special secret to cultivate, or specialized in healing and barriers or only demon baning power.

make up a tradition/rumor/superstition, like people who are born with a split lip are callers or misfortune or enbodiment of evil/demons and have to be sacrificed upon birth. one character escapes, manages to use a trick/cultivation technique to change his appearance a little and manages to join the group of the mc because he also wants to fight evil or something.

the motive for every charachter doesn't have to be revenge.

Let me suggest something to you

a story's popularity isn't decided by the author's mind but by how much a viewer likes it.

Nobody would remember this much on a story they would probably not see again.

I mean even in huge stories you can barely gather this much information.

But anyway

Here's a few suggestions by my wild imagination:

1.When he becomes a bit stronger have him go or get sent to a dungeon/cave.

Where a formation won't let him go out unless he clears the dungeon/cave.

2.Send him to a new city/town where he offends a young master >.>

3.?

4?

 

3.Meet a Dragon or strong creature and barely survive.

4.Enter a School/Academy/Sect/Temple or something like that where he meets his waifu/harem member/solo member or a friend ^-^

 

Never set the scale of the story too big from the beginning.

Start small and gradually increase the scale of the story.

 

Damn and here I thought that I was only one creating my own world. And for background I don't have any ideas just make sure it isn't disabled young master with bride who dumbs him or some generic shit like that. Btw looks interesting I hope you don't get bored and remember to get some basic guidelines for plot so that there is minimal amount of asspull but then again it's your own business so who am I tosay anything.

Just a quick question. Everything seems to have cores except humans? Shouldn't there be cores in them as well? At least in the ones with a pure lineage who don't need cores from monster?

And for places just look at IET's works and ISSTH. They both have great idea for interesting places that can give you your own ones.

 

Dead turtle mushroom island

There's a big ass turtle and it died on some sort of reef or something so it's not completely submerged in the water. Mushrooms are growing all over the place, using the nutrients from the turtle and its shell to grow.

The people on the island try to control the mushroom population to prevent the shell and corpse from deteriorating as the island slowly breaks up and sinks into the ocean. The mushrooms are both their major food source and a disaster that'll eventually destroy the island. Also, some of the mushrooms gain sentience and hunt down the people for food like beasts.

Throw in some poisons and hallucigens into some of the mushroom types and you've got a population of crazy people to spice things up.

 

Lol.

That would be like:

"My friend died yesterday."

"Really?From what?Cancer?Getting run on by a car?Gun?Age?"

*Looks strangely at his friends"

"No dude,he got eaten by a mushroom."

and then there is the one mushroom which absorbes cores and becomes a cultivator of a deity level but with the brain of a... mushroom.

oh, also, if you are writing other races remember their racial traits influence their living, their architecture, their mugs and doors and their phonetics.


doors for a race that's thinner than humans will be thinner. like, humans will feel odd going through their doors. they will fit, but it will be odd.

dwarves are so much shorter and thicher that their doors will be lower AND wider to the sides. round doors would be nice, as in the hobbit.

the handle of a dwarven mug would be thinner but longer to accommodate their short but thick fingers.

the handle of an elf mug would have a shorter length (I don't believe it would be thicker because of design) because of their thin fingers.

these are only examples, but an object made by a beastman for a beastman would NEVER be perfect for a human. not a weapon, not in height, not in comfortability, maybe not even in temperature (expect the room for a person covered in fur to be colder than a human would like, but a cat beastman may like high temperature since that is cozy xD)

 

Maybe you can create a language too, like Tolkien

 

Well if you don't mind a used one:

MC gets trapped in a small island. Barely three city blocks wide. There's a small house, in which lives a character that's been living there for as long as he/she remembers. MC lives with the character for a few months and learns to appreciate the character's lifestyle and point of views. Thus solving an internal problem of the MC, allowing him to grow (either as a character, or in the power that he wields). Then allow the MC to leave the island in some way.

Change it around however much you want. Just don't:
make the character into a love interest
Use a floating island in the sky

Because I already used those.

A hidden crafting cult that outfits the m.c for favours.

 

The inclusion of Earth in your story seems pretty pointless. You could, without losing anything, just start in the fantasy world with characters that have only lived in the fantasy world. Plus, if the destruction of your fantasy world doesn't effect Earth, I would find it hard to believe that anybody would agree to be transported to another world in order to fight that world's war.

When your MC is travelling around and asking all these races to unite and go to war, there better be a damn compelling reason for them to believe the MC. Putting aside how he'd need to convince the races to put aside their differences, calling them all to war against what they will probably consider a controlled threat would be difficult, to say the least. At least in your post, it doesn't sound like they'll be fighting a pre-established big threat like Sauron or the Fire Nation.

On to locations, just think up some really crazy shit and then think of how it could be a location.

The location I thought up:

A forest where trees suck out the blood of living things using vines, which they can control like limbs. The things they suck dry grow multi-colored flowers out of where the vines stuck into them, and they exist to maintain the forest. However, they aren't mindless, and instead keep their personalities, memories, etc. They live in cities made of the trees' vines. It is a location well known for its rainbow clouds and acid rain, something caused by the poisonous fumes that the plants produce instead of oxygen. Whoever goes inside the forest never comes back, but stories tell that whoever goes there will lead a life of true bliss.

Just let the ideas flow, and write them down. When the time comes to use them, figure out what parts you want to use, and which parts to cut.

also! two advices:

1) don't make the MC a reincarnator from earth unless it is really really really important to the story. the story sounds complex enough as it is. however, if you do need for the MC to be a reincarnator/you are dead set on it, remember to use the knowledge from earth from time to time, or make him tell stories from his world or the like. also remember that the knowledge the MC shows has to be pertinent with his previous life. because if I, during my high school days, had been sent to another world, I'd have been useless as fuck since I only exceled at using internet and reading manga and being good at English and math. I was bad at physics so nope, I wouldn't know how to build a gun or a cannion as some high schoolers from some novels seem to know XD (I still don't know how to build a gun though )

2) for the love of God and manga and anime and novels and cats, don't dump all of the info on the fast forward to the future as you are planning. that would scare people the hell away. better, just show the scene of the wreckage in the future, tell a brief description of who's who, have a brief conversation, then send guy to the past and go describing his story as he advances with his goals or something like that, or as the need arises. I recommend you read the Korean novel Reincarnator as the setting is very similar to what you want to write: guy from earth is sent to another world with most of humanity, but humanity is destroyed there ,so the last survivors decide to send the guy with the most surviving skill to the past to strengthen humans and so improving their survival chances. this novel accomplished this setting very well; it doesn't scare you with an info dump, rather makes you want to find out more about how this guy came to be one of the few human survivors.
