or you can go and share what you need in the translator's corner of the forum....

unless your planning on kidnapping a Chinese person to be your personal translator... 2 meals a day
lowered into the "pit" where they have a computer not connected to the internet with a dictionary on the side....
    just use these words

it translates 5 chapters a day, or else it gets the hose again.

Is the novel not being translated? Why don't you try posting on the novel pick up forum?

The novel is being translated, but only 1-2 chapters a day, and I have the feeling that the translators love stopping on cliff hangers, which is why I am willing to pay for a full translation. Instead of waiting the next 1-2 years until its done.

cant you be patient though? i mean it is your money bruh.... but still does the person translating it accept "donations" to motivate them to go faster?
if you do find someone out there that does accept your proposal do not share them online or get in touch with the translator who is currently doing the translation and gift them the chapters?
if you release them online its bad for the community >.> translators stop translating...
    well ive said my piece.

I can't be patient enough for a couple of years :p and I already donate for extra chapters

You have to offer more than 50 dollars USD for a chapter to get someone interested.

    I do, fairly often.
I have wondered though, why is the price so high? If the book was sold through official translations, that would be the cost of 2-3 volumes. (Well, in the case of japanese translations that is, may be different with chinese, they are hard to find)

plus your asking without vetting Quality.. if you use a "professional" translator its going to cost you thousands of dollars... and more or less it might have glaring mistakes in the translation...>.>

because your paying for a service usually professional translators, (they normally translate work documents into a different language...look online for their rates... ) i think the ones that translate Books or novels into another language work on contracts. our community mostly has fan translators which do accept donations and set a minimum of chapters per week.. alot of things are lost in translation meanings or nuances if you dont know both languages well... i remember reading Ren posting about it before on Wuxiaworld.

1-2 chapters per day is pretty fast already...how fast do you want your personal translator to go? If you are expecting 5 chaps per day it's like a full time job...are you sure you want to pay for that?
Plus Qidian is paying 30-40 dollars for 5 chaps per week if I am right...

Because official freelance rate for translations hovers around 5 american cents per word and rises for more exotic language pairs and more specialist subjects. Most novel chapters are 1k chinese words at least, often more. Do the math.

Edit: Actually make this 8 cents per thousand, haven't been involved with freelance translations in a while and I'm a bit out of touch. See here for details.

Expensive? Not at all. That's still not enough actually. It really depends on someone's experience and the popularity of the novel.

The more the demand, the higher the price. It's basic.

So does that mean that there are a lot less chinese speakers than japanese?
Because Japanese translations are about 1/3 the price for books; at least.
But more people speak chinese than japanese, from what I remember

And what does the book price have to do with this? Book prices include stuff like licensing fees, commissions for distribution chain, promotion costs, royalties, willingness to take a loss in return for growing the market and predicted total sales volume. The publishers pay the same ( if not more ) to their in-house translators as they would to a freelancer, they just diffuse the impact by the sheer amount of books they expect to sell.
