My BFF shares pretty much none of my interests in smut, but he's still willing to spend hours digging through shit he doesn't like to help me out. Bros come in many shapes and sizes, not all of them male. A true bro... they're rare, so when you find one, better hold tight.
Speaking of bros, I got a fudanshi friend who shares BL games, mangas and anime shows with me (though he likes bara more) XD
I dont know why I like yaoi. I guess it's bc they describe the actions and emotions better than most "normal" novels. Yuri on ice anime is awesome. Go watch it
Dunno much 'bout any new bl novels but there's this manga/manhwa/web comic I came across~ http://m.mangahere.co/manga/at_the_end_of_the_road/ And on that note, in recent 1-2 years mangahere is doing much more on the bl manga front than mangago... Also, anyone who has read 'Totally Captivated'? The way it started made me think it was a comedy but when the plot starts, it takes off~ It was the first Shonen-ai manga/manhwa I read and it's sequel (I heard that the author published it as doujinshi coz of lack of support from publisher... Why would that happen to such a' hot' pair?!!), well, it's sequel was my first yaoi~ Anyways, it's a good one to start with and a really good one to re-read~~ The manga (it that shall not be named) I read after that really put me off from yaoi for the next 2-3 months till I searched for manga's with the tag of 'obsession' (don't ask me why... I was very young and very new to the world of adults... Legally speaking *cough* *cough* ). The result was a manga named 'Kawaii Akuma' that dragged me back to the clutches of yaoi. And, ofc, the series that kept me interested was the 'I want to be naughty' series. Best pairing in that is definately the vice pres and the delinquent/follower <3 .. *sigh* Good, ol' memories~
My sis keeps on recommending me that 'At The End Of The Road' manhwa (though I think I'll stockpile chapters) but she won't touch my recommendation (Out Of Control) :T I read it!~ \o/ T'was my first BL manhua! >w< And I read Kawaii Akuma too (though Madarame Hiro-sensei's artstyle/plot didn't really click with me --- my BFF loooves her tho)~
I was asked that question by guys a few times, so I already have my answer ready, lol. It makes it easier to understand if you're a straight man who likes girl on girl/yuri/lesbian action. Then you can understand by association. At first I started liking it because it was a novelty. I was kinda sick of shoujo manga and its tropes, and yaoi introduced me to new tropes and more angst ('what if he doesn't like guys'). I was a teen then, so I liked angsty stories. Then I grew up and started liking the more hardcore yaoi with lotsa sex. And well, I treat it like porn really. Like it's my substitute for hentai, because hentai mainly grosses me out instead of getting me hot (with few exceptions). If we exclude all the rape, tentacle porn, guro, pedo, and other disgusting shit floating out there, the rest of vanilla hentai, as you said, concentrates on the girls' bodies and faces and are rarely female-friendly. They're centered around male satisfaction, if you get what I mean. And, fair enough, most of it is drawn by men for men, so I wasn't targeted as a reader anyway. But as we all know, women watch/read porn too. Therein comes yaoi, for me at least. It has no women, so I don't empathize with the one getting nailed. I can just enjoy it as a bystander. Also, hot guys. As long as the seme is hot, that's enough. There's plenty of big panels centered around his abs to make me happy, lol. I still enjoy straight stuff, but I rarely find satisfying examples. Yaoi has everything I'm looking for when it comes to porn - some plot, hot sex, hot guys, love/romance, and the couple is loyal to each other (in most cases, I'm not really into the 'bitch' type ukes that cheat). Though I'm getting pickier with age, chances are there's a 60% chance I'll like a new yaoi title, and there's a 0.5% chance I'll like a hentai one. And once the gates of yaoi have opened for your eyes, you start shipping straight male characters with each other for some reason, lol. But unlike guys, we don't get the creators to legitimately recognize any potential gay shippings. If a male character starts off straight, he'll remain straight foreva. But you guys get couples like Poison Ivy/ Harley Quinn and Korra/ that fire chick. Kinda unfair if you ask me. I'm still waiting for Superman to go gay for Batman, or Steve for Tony. Maybe for a few volumes in a side arc. I can only dream. And I don't mean that one of them gets turned into a woman in an alternate dimension. Legit guy x guy action only.
Yeah, the art style gets worse across vol's/series. The first one (named Kawaii Akuma) is still fine but the ones after that have a steadily decreasing art quality... On that note, yay! I'll try 'Out of Control'~ And' At the end of the road' is getting better in the recent chapters. We now have the MC, the romantic interest of the MC and the antagonist introduced and the plot's are starting (with the love interest taking full advantage of the MC's situation~) Any more recommendations~? Read the opening post... If you don't like yaoi, then why are you here?
Ah, I'm not a man, I'm a woman, I don't read yuri at all. Yeah I totally get what you mean. I'd go to read something like that and be like "The guy only appears in the edges of the panels, and half the time he's basically like a shadow. The girl has huge nearly-page-full panels. I want more guy in my scene dammit." and that was even supposed to be a female oriented *cough* type manga. Which is why I asked the question, I was really curious if my thoughts on this matched any one elses, especially people that went completely into being yaoi fans. Korra went that way? Didn't know. Kindof unexpected. Thanks so much for your response! So far I've got two confirmations of my idea, on sortof agreement, and no disagreements.
hi? I was called? I mean I am not the greatest fan of yaoi, but I love to discuss with girls about it hahaha
Meh..... i had no idea what Danmei was so i clicked on it People liking Yaoi is fine Whenever I make a post focusing on Harem, I get people that say "Harems suck" in the comments People can have opinions on things they do not like, so as long as they are not attacking others I allow it.Yaoi is only fine when its Issei and Kiba(gender ray gun form) or gaysper lol, hehe....o and thats my opinion so take it with a gain of salt.
Oh, just a heads up, but Out Of Control really starts slow, and at first it's a bit boring to read (it was recommended to me by my BFF, and I was like: what's so good about this?). It starts to get really good when the love interest (the handsome dude) starts realizing his feelings for MC-kun! \o/ Honestly, I don't quite like the MC. I rarely prefer the semes better than the ukes, ('cause I'm a seme take that you stupid semeuketest just because I act like an uke doesn't mean I'm one! I'm a seme 'cause I like ukes!!!) but in this case Yuri is gosh-darn adorable! BL Webtoon/Manhua recs? Hmm...my sis is also reading Killing, Stalking but I haven't read it yet.
