I just finished watching the movie Doctor Strange, and it was, strange.
The movie is nearly two hours long so it's a fairly large movie, and yet, even though it is extremely fast paced it feels like very little happened plot wise. Alow me to summarize:

    1. I'm the best neurological surgen ever, I'm so fckin smart!
    2. Oh sht, I crippled my hands in a car accident, I'm so fcking dumb!
    3. Sensei sensei! Fix my hands, no, teach me magic!
    4. Oh cool, now I know magic.
    5. Oh sht this is dangerous, I thought this was all fun and games but it seems I'm in over my head.
    6. I just saved the world. Oops.
    Great movie though

Pretty much how I felt. I mean it was nice (visually impressive and all that jazz), but that's it.
Mediocre, not good, but not bad either.

It's because of the whole "Cinematic universe" concept. Just imagine that this isn't a movie so much as a single 2 hr episode in a larger series.

If this was an episode in a series like legion or sherlock, you'd probably not think twice.

If you pay attention, you could see where to cut the movie into 4 30 minuteish episodes to make a mini-series (like lost room ::sad::)

(i hate it so so much. I get the money thing, but i wish each movie would stand on its own without being tied into to everything else.)

I said that "copious amounts of drugs and alcohol were used in the making of this film."

Overall I thought it was a good movie.

And you know what? aside from the first couple of movies in the MCU where they actually had to work to establish things and make it interesting, all the stuff in the middle has been about as interesting as reading a wikipedia page while someone plays a dramatic soundtrack.

Oh sure there's a lot of flash and glitter, but the movies don't really stand on their own, or at best provide a mediocre option.

Imagine if Doctor Strange was a D.C character and not a Marvel. The movie would've probably been crap. Well. I don't know about you. But I'm looking forward to the new planet of the apes movie (Even though it looks bad)

dont know why people get their panties in a bunch over this one. It was a traditional Origin Story movie that followed a similar formula to Iron Man or Ant Man with some slight changes (really liked the end). We get amazing visuals (finally 3D actually makes a difference in the cinema), great actors and not only good action, but also some funny moments.

Sure it's not perfect, it has a fairly weak villain (typical marvel problem apart from Loki/Winter Soldier maybe) and it doesnt offer any groundbreaking storywork, but apart from that it's a solid 8/10 and if you're into these kind of movies, it was one of the highlights of 2016.
I cant wait to see doctor strange again in Thor 3 (didnt really love the first two, but there's always hope) and after Civil War (my favorite 2016 movie), Infinity War cant come soon enough.

Quite cliche with the entire master teaches disciple, disciple goes to the dark side, master teaches others in order to stop him, master dies at the hands of disciple(even though he/she lived since the world or something)...

That's actually also a common cliche in the art of storytelling...A relative/friend/cohort dies leading to some change in the protagonist that allows them to develop their character

    All I can say, "Meh..."
It's just yes that's the cliché on all the superhero movie right now.
I really wish there is some like 'one punch man' or some kind superhero which is doesn't care if the world collapse. Human can thrive to see the next day by themselves.
