I agree no one in there right mind would do so without profit to be made however currently there are quite a few narcissistic psychopaths that hold power to use said weapons.

Actually plenty of ways exist for humanity, life on earth, or the planet itself to be destroyed and fairly quickly. We as a species are pretty dangerous to ourselves and our surroundings be we are not the only danger. A large asteroid could hit us, a nearby gamma-ray burst could roast to death every living thing, or the entire planet could be sucked up by a black hole. If by some miracle we survived for another five billion years it still would not matter. That is when the sun's life will be nearing it's end and enter the red giant stage growing to engulf the inner planets in a fiery inferno.
well, kim jong un (north korea super mad man) said he will launch an hydrogen bomb (way more powerful than atomic bomb) in the middle of the pacific ocean in response to US.... dude that will make a tsunami of epic proportions on the bad side of things. thats not counting on how will the radiation of the bomb affect marine life across the globe Also listening to news it seems that in north korea common people (meaning everyone else besides the ones ruling) live in a country life based around 18th century.... meaning in NK they are living like it was 200 years ago..... Also once per year they bring out the bodies of kim jong un father and grandfather and do a parade all around the country and all must be present and they MUST CRY or they are killed. it would seem that they are even recorded and then they select a few people who cried the least and kill them too....
