Oh, another thing to test is --

When someone leaves a PM, or is kicked from a PM conversation, it may not be possible to rejoin it ever again (I think -- my memory may not exactly be precise).

If this is true, then a spy would never be able to rejoin their home country. T_____T

I see. I'll implement that. The power plant(s) gives you energy as a function of every member you have. Building would be done by members, attacking by the team leader, or the Core members if the leader so specifies.

What about gaining energy for executing a spy, but losing energy for executing a normal member.

If someone takes any action against their team, they become a spy or 'rogue'.

Execution should always be a bad thing. It always costs morale. And the team shouldn't be able to determine if one was a spy after execution either. It should always be a negative action, taken to prevent worse from happening.

I don't think we'll code it. There'll be team threads, several PMs, and a game thread.

    Another PM?

Not everyone on the team should know who the spies are, as they might sell out their own spies to another team and defect.

    ... What?
When kicked, the one that started the convo can put them back.

If you leave, you're permanently out.

I want a situation were people may be motivated to defect and sell information on spies.

By making executing normal members cost the team energy, it disincentivises against it.

Due to the possibility of metagaming, there would be several people who may want to be spies.

I think rewarding the leader for finding out a spy, is a good thing.

I also think it will make the game much more fun.

As they lose energy if they execute a wrong spy, they would hesitate to do so, unless they are confident in the spies.

Teams can also trade energy for information (it doesn't have to be correct), but all such trades are GM sanctioned.

They can trade energy for constructed buildings and weapons as well.

*shrug* It's up to you. I don't like unrealistic nature of how your execution works though. And the simple way to prevent people from defecting and selling info is by not telling team members who spies are. So there is no reason for such to oocur

15 - 30 minutes per round, is not something I'm sure we'll have enough GMs for. What if no core member of a team is online during that time?

Negotiation, strategising, politics, betrayal, etc would take place between rounds.

True, but I want people to be motivated to betray.

But keeping spies hidden might be a good thing.

Though teams may still sell info on their own spies. I want a situation like that. Since executing spies gives 2f energy, a team may decide to ally with another team, and sell out their own spies giving the other team energy, or doing so for favours, etc.

Currently, I got this for execution.
    1. Permanent Member: -f energy
    2. Non spy regular member: -f/2 energy
    3. Spy: 2f energy.
    4. f will be a function of the starting energy amount. It should be substantial enough to tempt teams to execute spies, and sell out their own spies, perhaps as a scam to share the energy.
    5. I want there to be scummy leaders.

The final rules may be simplified; only the core members would need to know the full complicated form.

All players need to know all rules, it's a basic on games.

If you can't provide even that, your game won't ever work.

A certain fraction of a council is required to approve of an action such as attacking or defending.

Members for this council are nominated from among the team.

E.g 1/3 - 1/2 of the council would come from regular members.

The council switches out every round, or every z rounds.

Conducting the nomination and election of the council will be done by the team leaders in team threads.

    What do you think?

When they council votes, the leaders would only see the numbers of those who approved or denied their operation, and not what they voted.

People can of course become spies after they've been elected to the council.

So the team leaders would have a lot of mind games to play.

    Execution doesn't require approval though.

Should I narrate how the game went after the game; who were spies, who defected, etc?
