Far as fightscenes of the show are concerned I'd consider them low quality on average, people are moving too slow to look convincingly competent and there's a lot of flailing. Oberyn Martell fight was good but Gregor Clegane really didn't sell it, there's a video out there by a Youtube channel called The Sword's Path that says all that needs saying about how The King in the North fights, Brienne looks and sounds like she's having a heart attack per sword swing, Arya's just kung fu nonsense, Sand Sneks fight looks like it belongs to Xena the Warrior Princess and you'd think that Jaime being hailed as one of the best fighters in the GoT universe they would at least make it look somewhat convincing? He's one of the worst looking guy swinging a sword I've seen in years.

Last sunday's episode was beyond epic. The finale should be even better!

 

Can't say I've been keeping up with the series but it seems to me like the writers have lost all sense of time and distance.

More like they've lost their sense of narrative coherence...and their balls as well. Look at who died, a dragon we know nothing about or care for because all dragon screen-time was of Daenerys' personal mount, Thoros who's a wasted opportunity because he's awesome, nuanced and very much alive in the books, and DeusExBenjen who just shows up out of nowhere to rescue his nephews from otherwise inescapable death. Tormund should've died as well, they're just keeping him alive for some BriennexTormund fanservice and there's no real need for him anymore since the wildlings have no more reason to distrust Jon at this point. Being hit in the head and piled on by more than four wights who were shown capable of tearing down thick lumber walls in Hardhome should've killed him or at least tear one of his legs off.

Quite frustrating that a few changes solves a lot of the problem with the episode. If they really have to go beyond the wall for the stupidest plan ever (Remember the first wight Jon has encountered in Castle Black? Have a dead or dying restrained in Eastwatch and wait for it to turn, there no need to go beyond the wall.) then having Daenerys and her dragons on Eastwatch standing by would've been more acceptable than insta-ravens and sonic-speed dragons, maybe she there because she really needs Jon alive for the alliance or something. Have Benjen show up during the bear fight and prevent them from losing redshirts, then Jon and him could catch up and talk about what happened to him. Not sending the guy who hasn't been north of the wall through a blizzard to call for help or if Gendry really has to be the one then have him use Benjen's horse. Having them being surrounded in the frozen lake with just the breaking ice preventing the army of the dead from steamrolling them is kinda ridiculous once you remember that the army of the dead is lead by ice demons who bring cold with them, so if Benjen (Who was saved by the Children of the Forrest therefore it isn't that much of a stretch that he knows a couple of their tricks) was there then have the breaking ice be used just to buy time for him to set up wards like the Children of the Forrest did before. Do not one-shot the dragon out of the sky and do not have the Night King pick a flying target at a longer range that the one grounded with all the essential characters sitting at its back, have him get severely wounded that it can't fly after trying to make a pass at the Night King and get mobbed by the wights (A dragon got killed by a mob of peasants in the books because it was chained and can't fly). Maybe Viserion's crash cut off some of Jon's crew (I'd personally pick the redshirts, Beric and Sandor) which forces them to fight alongside the wounded dragon in a hopeless last stand and Dany with the others can't risk it because they were getting harassed by ice javelins or maybe Drogon got wounded by one and barely made it to Eastwatch.
