How did you meet NU?

Wow. I actually didn't expect many of us came from Google. Good job Tony. You are popular for every Novel Seeker.

 

well it was a pain look in all sites for updates (<-used feedly feed) when i found this site i was
ohhhhhhh~~
nya !

 

Aho update was down so I look at the next few sites on Google sensei then saw NU. I remembered seeing it mentioned on reddit,so I decided to check it out

 

/r/LightNovels was preparing to expel all stories that weren't strictly Light Novels (ie. Japanese Novels specifically marketted as Light Novels) because so much Chinese shit was drowning out real light novels. This also included a lot of web novels I followed that didn't have a strictly Light Novel adaptation, and honestly, Aho-Updates was pretty ugly. On top of that, MangaUpdates said they would expel most novels (Anything that didn't have a manga or anime, specifically) so people (like me) wanted a good way to keep track of story updates.
Someone ended up creating WLNUpdates.com (Web/Light Novel Updates), which I joined immediately after the owner posted it on /r/LightNovels. But Tony came by a bit later and posted NovelUpdates.com, and that somehow got more popular.

In my opinion, when the two sites started out, WLNUpdates was superior feature-wise, but it never developed a solid community, probably because there were a lot of people from /r/LightNovels that didn't like that it accepted English original fiction, and of course the name isn't as easy.
On top of that, NovelUpdates ended up having a better User Interface and was quicker to accommodate the needs of users, while WLNU hasn't really updated its features, and just stagnated.

Well, that's pretty much how I ended up here, back when the site was still tiny.

 

I used aho-updates > click novel chapter > see random comment in that novel ch. taht mention NU > come here > "oh, this is more complete than aho" > bookmark, delete aho
I forgot what novel that was clicked tho..

Well sonny, it was a story long time ago...

*flash back start*

It was a dark stormy night...

*creak*

I have arrived home from my worldly duty of shaving my lifespan just for the sake for my eventual enslavement to the society

"Fufufu... I have arrived, my trusted partner..."

*sound of thunder and lightning flashing*

*sound of something booting up*

"Okay, let's do this thing!"

Couple of mouse clicks later...

"Hmm, what's this? Novelupdates.com? Looks neat."

*click*

...and that's how I found NU sonny.
It was all thanks to Google-sensei.

 

i used to read a thread named "where can i find recommendations" on batoto, and finally i know there is other novel translation than baka-tsuki, and finally stumbled upon NU link in one of them(i forgot which)

 

I met NU around 6 months before when i started reading other webnovels aside from the ones from baka tsuki.
But simce im far too lazy to register and pretty much spentmy time reading New novels haha

 

I was using mangaupdates for the longest time ever then I started read then I started reading CD and stumbled across this beauty. Took me a while to update my reading list on to NU as it was quite extensive but for better or worse it has gone through an even bigger growth spurt since coming here. So if i ever have to find another site to keep track of my reading list it will be a daunting task making the switch.

 

Panlong@CD leads me to NU..

 

First I randomly found Coiling Dragon when looking for something to read, which lead me to WuxiaWorld which then lead me to NU

 

From... the novel recommendation page on batoto.

 

Google-Sensei recommended it to me on the first hit, when I was searching for some lightnovels~!

 

I discovered NU after looking for an updates about Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken, World Customizer Creator and
Mushoku Tensei

 

I found NU/NUF on accident looking for panlong manwha due to a recommendation... Next thing I know I'm almost exclusively reading light/web novels

 

Those marketing skills that Tony has.... They're perfect.

This make me realize it's pretty much luck to find NU. I found this site after ahoupdates keep going offline. We need a Facebook/Twitter page to attract more readers. More reader = more donations = more chapters.

 

I found it by the commentaries of "Common Sense for a Duke's Daughter" in a manga site, someone said that the original novel was being translated and linked NU there.

And now, here I am.

 

I didn't meet NU, NU met me...or at least that's how it feels at times...
