Make you passwords into the form of (base)+(variable) use the same secure base and change the variable to something that you can guess, that way you only need to remember the base. Something like AArdvarkXylophone2020, AArdvarkXylophone2030, AArdvarkXylophone2040 etc as your different site passwords. That way it's easy to remember and guess but if one gets found out, they still need to guess whatever pattern you use to find the rest of em.

I've kept using the same password from middle school ID. Since it's easier to memorize and you'll lose your accounts if it's always different

Yeah. Forgetting or updating passwords is a pain. For my company there’s an automatic password update every 3 months and they don’t use previous passwords. They don’t even let you use a partial part of your previous password. It’s so bad I mess up password all the time. Not only that I have a fear that after 3 times they’ll lock me out. So it’s a real pain. It’s at the point where I have to start writing down my password on a pice of paper. Totally unsecured method.

So yeah, bud understand where your coming from.

you could always use a secure service like lastpass to manage all your passwords for you.

I don't usually remember the password itself anymore, I just remember the finger motions needed to type it out xD

I have 5 passwords. Each corresponds to the level of "security" I guess? Needed. All of them are related to something that is easy for me to remember, like something I would see almost every day. Because of this, when I use the higher tiers, like the tier 5 (which is almost never used) *shakes head in embarrassment* I can vaguely remember what it is, and am like, "oh that's right!"

I also have them written down and saved with encryptions on my comp. I update them every year. And so far, I have never had any problems.

I use the same password for almost every account.. I may change the word in it sometimes but the old and new word is related so its not hard to memorise.

    ALSO:

don't take the advice of people who say to use super complicated passwords. the information is out of date and invalid since many years ago.

the guy who gave the advice originally even apologised to everyone that he got it wrong through the news channels.

alternating numbers, letters, caps and lower case does absolutely nothing to slow down a hacker attempting to access your account.

all real attempts to steal your password without phishing rely on you either having left a written record of it because its too complicated to remember or they use machine powered brute force to just run through the iterations.

    THE BEST PASSWORD:

consists of a really long PASSPHRASE you can easily remember and type, where the number of characters are no less than 20. this is much easier to remember, and the sheer number of digits mean that for a hacker to try and brute force your password would take them well past weeks to months, by then you could have changed it once more.

p.s: for my website hosting account I use a 32-digit long password that is easy for me to remember despite not being simple to "guess" due to using real words. try and calculate how long that would take to brute force when I added in just a few special characters.

When it doesn't matter but requires you to add numbers and capital letters I use something like 1234567aaBB, otherwise I write it down on some useless piece of paper with irrelevant text that for some reason I keep around, not on the first page ofc, or I just copy some text from a device which is unused and constantly nearby like model name, example : modelAPD30C.
