Request I need help writing a Prologue.

Right now I have an idea for a story but no idea on how to write the prolonge for the stories beginning.

I wanted to make the story about a character named Allen(Written about below) and his adventures as he's sent to the past by the person who summoned him in order to help him get stronger than he was in the past.

The story is going to be a Xuanhuan but no ones going to be randomly killing each other and losing their sh*t because of something like the MC not bowing down to them.

I wanted to make it so the MC was a former SWAT officer who died after sacrificing himself to save his comrade. The MC is then healed and sent to another world because of a mysterious existence (A plot point I'm still stuck on) but the catch for it was losing a part of his soul so that he becomes the servant of that said mysterious existence.

The side effect of losing a piece of his Soul was blindness, one that couldn't be healed with magic, he lives his life for a long time in this other world but couldn't reach the peak of due to his damaged soul.

I wanted to make him regain that shard of his soul for some reason but am unable to think of a reason for him regaining that said part.

The person who was going to send him to the past was another Immortal nicknamed The Moon, a person who has the ability to send her soul back in time, but am still unable to think of an incident that would properly give her a reason to help him using her cultivated ability.

Oh, and he regains his sight along with the lost part of his soul.

How people of Azure Sky Continent train their in order to gain strength:

Only those who have able to sense Worldly Qi are able to train their spirits by condensing them into their Soul Cores. Once a spirit is nurtured enough that person will be able to rank up.

Special worlds include the Spirit World, a place that gathers spirits and allows them to be birthed into Soul Cores of humans by the Spirit King.

Special Artifacts include weapons created by human or dark races manufacturers and gained sentience. It includes weapons spirits that were able to be cultivated by their users resolve.

Soul Fusion is an ability that is able to be produced by compatible Artifacts. It is able to fuse two Artifacts for a few moments, the higher levels of it is able to fuse people together and create miraculous abilities using fused the Artifact or person.

People are divided into four realms of existence: Human Realm are the powerless people without Qi, Traveler Realm are those within the first five ranks, Practitioner Realm are of the ranks above that and Immortal Realm are of the highest ranks of existence.

Soul Artifacts are: Silhouettes
Weapon Types: Are silhouettes of weapons that have been destroyed in battle or have turned into dust with age. The users are able to gain the martial prowess of the previous user.

Bronze Combatant, First Possession
The first ability of a Combatant is being able to summon their Soul Artifacts and use them to possess a weapon. The user can store the weapon that has undergone possession in their Soul Cores for safe keeping. They can use techniques depending on the control and imagination they have of the manifestation in their mind. The first arc will be about the difference between Combatants and Powerless.

Silver Combatant, Second Enchanting
The second ability of a Combatant is being able to enchant themselves using the Qi within their bodies. The second arc will be about joining learning to deal with others of higher strength.

Gold Combatant, Third Fusion
Able to fuse their Soul Artifacts with an outside treasure to increase its strength, when reaching this rank, the people who want to become stronger need to hunt those of other races.

Obsidian Combatant, Fourth Awaken
Also known as the second awakening due to it being able to tap into the secret potential within Soul Artifacts that came from gathered treasures.

Master Combatant, Fifth Armament
Able to create a suit of armour using the fusion between Qi and Soul Artifact in order to fight more ferociously. The third arc will be about them trying to understand the stronger enemies.

Grandmaster Combatant, Sixth Flesh
Able to merge armaments with flesh.

Mystical Combatant, Seventh Foundation
Able to connect with the worldly energy and merge soul core with Artifact and flesh. The fourth arc will be about them understanding the Cultivating Combatants that seek immortality.

Legendary Combatant, Eighth Core
Able to create a new Soul Core that is much more powerful than a original.

Mythical Combatant, Ninth Soul
Able to merge body and soul in order to increase their Longlivety. The last arc will be about them fighting immortals to reach the goals they've established.

Immortal Combatant, Tenth Undying
Able to create an ability that relates to immortality in able to gain eternal life.

General of the armies is located in the south east of the empires borders.
Field Armies are tasked with keeping the borders of the empire in check.
Admiral of the Navy located at the north west of the empire due to lake.
Armadas are tasked with keeping the massive lake near the empire in check.

Minister of State is a person who takes care of high-rank incidents of empire.
Imperial Bureaucracy they are called nobles as well. They are tasked with keeping others who are not from the Empire in check and are used to keep the government stability in check.

Dukes are on the same level as the minister of state due to their power.
Provincial Guards are task forces that try to keep the peace in the Empire but are not as trained as the army.

Provincial Governors they collect tax and work the kingdoms public order. A Duke is in charge of training their Provincial but their decisions is mostly influenced by the minister of state.

Goals and Persona: Reminiscent of Koko Hekmatyar, he only wishes to make those he cares for proud and fight against anyone tries to force him to do anything. He has a childish personality but an devious and intelligent mind.

(Most of the skills he has is due to him trying to improve himself even though he isn't able to see with his eyes.)

The first arc will be about combatants and powerless people. Then combatants against combatants. The highest ranked combatant in the empire is only a Fifth Awakened one.

Beast Cores are able to create temporary physical strength boosters and physical health strengtheners.

Elemental Art- Goblin
Goblin Cores are able to help create elemental resistance medicines and create elemental symbol formations.

Absorption Art- Blemmyes
Blemmyes Cores are to provide Qi and create Qi devouring symbol formations.

Healing Art- Lizarian
Lizarian Cores are good ingredients for healing ointments and can create life prolonging armour or equipment.

Undying Art- Undead
Undead Cores are good ingredients for life prolonging medicine for the gravely injured. Can only prolong injured life for short amount of time and no more.
However, prolonged exposure to them can also cause others to be infected. It is also used to make Combat Puppets.

Spirit Art- Phantoms
Phantom Cores able to help create medicines that can heal soul injuries and can help create soul stasis symbol formations that can kill Phantoms.

Construction Art- Vampire
Vampire Cores able to help make pills that can heal blood loss and help create symbol formations used for defence.

Displacement Art- Werewolf
Werewolf Cores able to help create pills that can allow limited teleportation and help make teleportation formations.

I haven't read your entire post but just an advice. Prologue is not necessary. Don't spend too much time making a 'pre-chapter 1'. Prologue is your teaser, something to draw readers in. It doesn't have to be connected to Chapter 1. It's totally fine to write the prologue after you've gotten the first 10 chapters written. Your prologue will have more depth that way. New authors often misunderstood that prologue is chapter 1, or pre-chapter 1, when it's actually closer to omake = bonus chapter.

Can we see you first 3 chapters first? We can't really suggest a prologue if we don't know how your story will be written. At most it will just be an uneducated conjecture.

 

How he gets summoned goes a little like this:

In a darkly lit room was a young man who was tightly tied to a chair using all forms of restraints, to the point that he even had trouble breathing, but his attitude didn't give off the feeling of a victim as he tapped his foot in the floor.

Surrounding his chair were a few people wearing skull-faced masks, the air around them seemed to freeze because of the murderous intent coming straight from their hearts, but the actions of the bound young man seemed to suggest his enjoyment of the circumstances surrounding him.

"Remove the restraints on his mouth and ears." A man in black clothes who was wearing a more elaborate skull mask said icily to his subordinates. He looked at the young man in front of him with eyes containing deep malice.

"Urgh...! Seriously, can't you take care of me better? Maybe I'll talk if you treat me a nice dinner~!" The young man laughs, nonchalant even though he was restrained and deprived of his vision.

"Do you think someone will be able to save you? Is that why you aren't taking us seriously?" The masked man said deeply. He reached into his jacket and pulled out a knife, the proceeded to stab it into the young man's knee.

"Urgh...!" He grunted in pain, but a smile was still on his face as he gritted his teeth. Blood spurted out his knee and covers the SWAT vest on the floor.

"I got a question for you. Come on, if you answer it, maybe I'll think about answering truthfully." He said with nonchalance, completely ignoring the blood seeping out his wound, causing the masked man to feel a little fearful of his unbreakable heart's will.

"You just don't understand your situation! We are the ones will be asking the questions!" The masked man roared ferociously before pulling the knife out of the young man's knee and using to stab him again repeatedly.

"Are you lot wearing masks?" The young man asked unconcernedly. He gritted his teeth and tried to pretend his body wasn't trembling in pain.

"So what if we are?" The masked man unconsciously retorted and didn't understand what he was getting at.

"If you are, then you're a retarded bastard, that's what. Why the hell are you wearing a mask in front of a guy you've blindfolded? Do you also wear sunglasses at night to hide your ugly fa-" Just as the young man was about to continue ridiculing the masked man who captured him, a fist smashed into his stomach, before being followed up by a slap that hit straight into his jaw.

"I see you have a smart mouth. Let's see if you can keep up the act after I'm done with you." The masked man with with red eyes, his breathing was ragged even though he wasn't tired, as was the same for the others surrounding him.

They chopped off all ten fingers, cut off one of his legs, beat him to the point of losing a most of his teeth and bruised him to the point that most of his body was covered in the colour of blue.

A knife was left sticking out of his shoulder, but he didn't shed even one tear through the blindfold covering his eyes, his breath was faint yet the way he presented himself looked like he was actually sleepy from extreme boredom.

"Are you guys done? How unprofessional of you lot, can't you interrogate some you've injected with truth serum? I'm sure I would have been able to do a better job than you fucking shits for brains." The young man weakly laughed, he didn't even have any strength left to struggle anymore, and his entire body was in pain from the relentless torture.

Well, what was left of him felt pain anyway, it was miraculous itself that he was still able to retain his consciousness after having most of his body parts cut off or mangled in such a way. The eyes of the masked man was still as savage as before, he wanted to just kill the young man to end it all together, but his pride stopped him.

He was unable to believe that the person in front of him was merely a SWAT Officer from the UK and not a veteran Ranger from the military armed forces. He was unable to understand why a police officer who should only be ordinary in terms of mental fortitude was so unyielding!

It was at that moment, a flash lit up the dark lit room which was followed by an loud explosion, those who had fallen to the ground because of the force of the explosion were quickly disposed of by a barrage of bullets. A gruesome massacre could be heard as the smell of gunpowder permeated the room.

The young man retrained to an iron chair felt the warmth of sunlight on his flesh, but was unable to see the faces of his comrades that participated in the raid along with him, his lips curved as he heard the masked terrorist dying scream. It was at that moment that tears started to well up in his eyes.

"Allen! Don't worry. You'll be fine.... You'll be alright. Medic! Get over here...! You bastard!" The voice of an older man could be heard in his ears.

He felt a tear drop hit his face, but before the man could take off his blindfold, Allen's voice resounded.

"Stop!" The rough hands of the man was stopped by Allen's trembling voice.

"Son. Why...?" The man, for the first time since Allen had joined the Special Weapons And Tactics force, asked his son without any strictness in his voice.

"I don't want to see anything. I might pass out if I see my body, and most of all, do you think I want to ruin the image of that iron-blooded father in my mind?" He forced out a smile and said.

"Son. Stop it... Stop talking nonsense even now. Stop hiding what you actually feel." His father didn't heed his words and took off his blindfold, but what he saw underneath it were merely the burned remains of Allen's eyes.

A gasp could be heard from the officers as they saw his mangled body, they also couldn't believe that Allen was able to keep the secret of where they hid after entering the terrorists base and survive under such torturous conditions.

"Fuck...!" An officer who saw his eyes couldn't but curse before starting to unload the bullets in his pistol into the corpse of the masked man who seemed to be the leader of the terrorist group.

"It's alright. Where's the med, what's taking him so long?" Allen acted unconcerned about his eyes, and tried to change the subject, a man who looked no different than the others surrounding him ran towards his broken body with a medical kit in hand.

The man didn't speak anything to waste time and helped Allen's father lay him on the floor, but after a few minutes of checking his condition the resolutely man shook his head.

"Allen, you're going to be alright, be strong for me." His father tried to lie for the first time in his life with a stern voice. After hearing such an obvious lie from his father, Allen laughed once more, but the nonchalance in his voice had all but faded into nothingness.

"Tell me the truth. Dad... Don't you dare lie to me. You suck at it." Allen asked, the forced smile on his face started to waver, as he was unable keep up his current charade any longer.

"I don't want to die..." He continued but was only answered with a brutal silence, a silence that didn't reassure him, a silence filled with coldness.

'To die like this... Why did I have to be such a nice guy and take one for the team? I should have just let that other guy be captured and tortured instead trying to be such a martyr.

Ahh... I want another chance, even if I have to give up something in return, it wouldn't be a problem.' As if hearing the single drop of his sea of messy thoughts, the sounds of breathing around him quietens, leaving him confused. He saw blinding blue chalice even in front of him, even though he was blind, he could 'see' that the azure light illuminated the world as if it was searching for something in particular.

He felt a vibration coming from the gun within his father's holster. Then the pistol flew out and merged with the azure chalice, after fusing with the gun an extremely bright azure light enveloped his broken body before he fully lost his consciousness.

 

The prologue is exactly a tease as Miss cactus says.

It should hint at the wider repercussions, the mythos and the eventual direction of your story on a broad scale. It might not even include your protagonist at all and tbh, the better ones frequently do not. It may relate only tangentially to the first story arc. So write the middle of you story (particularly figure out those missing motivations and story sections) before writing a prologue

Understood. But writing a long story like this takes effort. Sometimes one mind isn't enough to think of things.

If I want to ask for advice I will. Just ignore it if you don't want to add.

 

Mc marries master's granddaughter in first life. They are attacked by the master's enemies and only MC survives, the master blames him, but gifts him power for revenge. Later she is also killed by the enemies and realizes the mc's potential as he was almost as strong as her when she died, so she sends him back with the last og her cultivation.

 

Here's a positive.
You already have your 'art' fleshed out. So try to make a story that revolves around it. If you say that those are the basis.
Be smart and timely when you add more so that it doesn't appear like the said art appeared outta thin air ( a general novel problem )

If you don't have any idea,just take a break and think about it.

 

I don't know but one thing for sure, if you make some kind of swat officer, don't make it a pre-pubescent boy in his head like in some (most?) other novels i could read, please.. anything but that.

 

Rather than permanent blindness, you could give him some weird ability. The immortal that he got his second life from was "The Moon" so why not give him something like "Eyes of the Moon" where he can see in darkness, or only sees the reflections of objects on other objects or something oddball like that. If the ability that replaces sight is weird enough, it would take a long time to get used to + could be used as a trump card in the future.
Having read your proposed prologue, you could tweak that a little bit and have the torture be a bit longer of a time period + more brutal, with them taking his eyes, ears, fingers, toes, maybe a hand or foot. Have the immortal be able to fix "most" of him - all but the eyes. No need for him to willing give up some of his soul, s/he can just take it.
I suppose another option would be to have his master lack a corporeal body in the past - being able to send their spirit back but not a physical body. At that point, s/he would act as his eyes and he would suck at seeing until they synchronized better. As the story advances, their cooperation would improve giving you a somewhat plausible reason for him to power up over the course of the story.

 

sounds interesting, it would work if the logic in my book wasn't so twisted to different standards, since the cultivation system wouldn't allow anyone who has the broken ability to summon people from other worlds as their guardians to also have an ability that can manipulate time.

I have have already planned out how many immortals there are and what abilities they have. There are twenty one that are planned out in total, other than The Fool card all of them are based off an Major Arcana.

 

I understand what you mean. That why I'm going to flesh out the story from the beginning with a slow paced foundation making start. It will be interesting but not much table flipping action will happen until it's done fleshing out the story.

 

Out of all the novel ideas I have seen in novelupdates, yours truly comes at the top in terms of the concept preparations.
