Just wanted to know if someone can explain or give a brief description regarding some Korean mythologies. I'm asking because I am reading the web-manhwa (?) The Gamer, however in recent chapters, I've been confused regarding some of the mythologies they've been referencing. Unfortunately I have no background information and was hoping someone could fill in. Some historical facts which are the basis of said myths would be greatly appreciated as well.
Daaang~ i knew it!! When i looked at the title i was like... Oh, i'll bet 50 bucks that this is related to "the gamer"... And i was right!!! woot~
I wish to not simply depend on google, but ask real koreans who frequent the site.....I'm in no way lazy and passing it off to someone else.... Actually, I don't mind google, but the way that The Gamer is portraying it, it sounds like korean general knowledge.... Also, the author might only be focusing on certain aspects of a wonderful tale which may have been made into a translated novel, and hence the asking about it....
Well some of the mythos that the gamer used aren't Korean mythology. There is one about Norse mythology, it was the one about the tree, the world tree, it starts with a Y... It has weird spelling Sooo yaa
the local not that different than local japanese or chinese myth, along witha few elements from Buddhism,Zen,Taoism.. it's just that the names are a bit different
If you are talking about the 3 artifacts in the lastest chapter then......Well, I tried. Can't find anything talking about the appearance or showing the appearance of them. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haneullim ^ This hear talking about Dangun's myth meantion in the latest chapter. But it doesn't show any image, and the Heavenly Seals or something only being brushed by. Probably you need to go to an Actual Korean site for this, cause even google itself doesn't help much. Beside that, I think the Author just taking the images of the Heavenly Seals from the Popular " Imperial Regalia of Japan", and using some of the myths of them. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperial_Regalia_of_Japan That's all I can help you man. Even I was a bit curious about what they were talking about so I searched for them a little bit. (And like someone said before, most of the mythologies The Gamer used aren't Korean but from other famous mythologies like Norse mythology, Celtic mythology, etc...)
That name 'Yggdrasil' is certainly not Korean, it's from Norse myth.. the Korean myth have a name for World Tree too .. just can't remember the name for it
