write it down. ∫e^x =F(un) then read it. I found this at engineering college.

I would normally agree with you.

But then we get new knowledge about math being discovered from time to time, which makes it possible to doubt the rules of math.

In the past, nobody believed an equation with the root of "-4" in it would have a solution after all.

That, and fairy oddparents work in an universe with magic, so any law can be broken.

But the laws of mathematics aren't constrained by the laws of the Universe.

2 + 2 = 4 is a necessary truth, based on the definition of "+" and our conception of numbers.

See the part about the root of "-4", the concept of complex numbers changed one of the laws of math.

Also, magic is a strange thing, if it can create a paradox and change how things work, then it would change the concept.

If in a magical world, you got a pen together with a pen, that would mean two pens, but if you got two pens together with 2 pens, and that suddenly became a fish, wouldn't that means that 2 + 2 = fish?

Magic is outside of our understanding on it's full potential because we do not have magic in our world, I do not think it would be impossible to change very basics concepts of math due to magic.

No. Only if every four atoms turned into fish, every four electrons, bosons, hadrons, etc.

Such a universe would be composed entirely of fish and at most 3 elementary particles. There would also only be 3 fish, and fish itself would be indivisible.

You can't freely change the laws of Mathematics without completely fucking over the Universe.

Depends on how maddening you want the magic to be.

    The statement never was 4 = fish, it was 2 + 2 = fish.

    So if you get 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 things, it won't turn into a fish, they'll remain as 4 things.

You will only turn something into a fish if you join 2 + 2 things together, because magic doesn't follow logic, it follows its own rules.

Or, if we go with your scenario, we would have an entire universe with only 3 fishes in it, and each fish would only have 3 single atom, which would be made of only 3 particles. In other worlds, a really small universe.

Still, if magic is involved, I fail to see how that would be impossible.

    2 + 2 = 1 + 1 + 1 + 1
    If 2 + 2 = fish, then 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = fish.

Each fish wouldn't be made of a single atom. Each fish would be a single elementary particle.

A world with at most 3 fish, and 3 of any kind of elementary particle.

A fairy can only exist if it's an elementary particle.

    I would say that 2 + 2 = (1 + 1) + (1 + 1), not 1 + 1 + 1 + 1, so the first scenario still remains valid.

    A really small universe indeed.

    (1 + 1) + (1 + 1) = 1 + 1 + 1 + 1
Due to the properties of addition.

    for someone practiced at cloning,

    You fail to understand magic.....

    Or religion..
    as we all "know"

    ergo (5 bread + 2 fish) / jesus = X
    where X > (5 bread + 2 fish)

Clearly with magic 2+2 does not equal 4

    ::rolleyes::

That does not prevent 2 + 2 from equating to 4 though?

    I explained here:
Why changing the laws of Mathematics Willy nilly is catastrophic.

I personally believe that Mathematics is immutable. That 2 + 2 = 4, is a necessary truth, and not a possible truth.

In a Universe where 2 + 2 = fish, the following would have to be true:
    1. The universe has a maximum of 3 of any elements of any given set.
    2. Fish refers to an elementary particle.
A Universe with 3 fish is what you'll get.
