    It's not a scam. They announced that they would cut down seventy-six 45min episode to six 90min episodes.

    Its not the first time.... They have released anime on their site and called it a Netflix Original. Sometimes they call it theirs if they picked it up from somewhere else and they are the only ones showing it. Like Ajin, Seven Deadly Sins and Longmire... Still don't know why they would call it an original though

    If Empresses in the Palace is like your typical soap opera like drama then cutting out essentially 64 episodes wont hurt it much. I saw a drama cut from 180 45mins episodes to 24 90 minute episodes and it left me wondering why I wasted the other almost 6000 minutes I spent watching the first showing.

    When they call it original it didn't mean they themselves came up with the idea, it just meant they sponsored those shows kinda like how a bunch of anime have a list of sponsors being named at the beginning.

    A bunch of anime have the funimation name appear at the beginning of them which I'm pretty sure funimation didn't create.

    Also that other dudes math is so wrong. Turning the 45min episode into 90min means that the show should be 38epi long.

    45*2=90 minutes
    76÷2=38 episodes
