There are plenty of novels out there that get really bad ratings undeservedly for sure.

The most well known were already mentioned in this thread I believe, novels with NTR tag, novels about BL and JP novels in general.

It is quite pitiful to see people with such a sad behavior towards novels that can be good, but simply because they are against their tastes, receives their full hate.

Another common example would be novels with harem in it I suppose, though there is some reason behind the claims against it, it does not justify hating all harems as a whole...

Of course not all novels that get hatred to so without a good reason, but I believe most that I mentioned in this post receive it due to the raters own ignorance.

can't stop craving potions basically bit the pillow. Its ratings tanked hardddddd. Like when the first chapter was released, before anyone even had any time to read the chapter, it had like a dozen 1 star votes because people thought it would slow down the translation of returnee for some reason

As for me, I can't pick those titles again, despite hundred of chapters had been read.
    Once drop, forever drop.

But lot of people still love it.

NTR would actually be fun to read if the MC being NTR'd is beta af.

Bonus if the MC is being bullied by the guy who's NTRing him.

Big bonus is the NTR-er screws the heroine while MC is watching and bawling like a bitch.

    Yes yes. That too.

Even bigger bonus if the heroine keeps insulting the MC while doing it with another guy in front of him.

If only people knew how to properly appreciate NTR. It's like liver. People generally stay away from eating it but the real connoiseurs know its true value.

Are you sure you aren't confusing who the MC is?
The alpha doing the cucking is obviously the actual MC. Also, there are two terms.
Netorare is where the MC is getting cucked
Netori is where the MC is cucking someone else.

I can see people doing that. I think it's such a good novel though. And it being slow paced is part of what makes it good for me

Not if you're Japanese. If you're Japanese then the The handsome alphas are the villains and the plain doormats are the MC's.

That said... any suggestions for Netori?

Is that so? It is unexpected to me that people would give a bad rating to a novel just because they don't like the translators picking up side projects.

I am pretty sure translators already explained why they do pick those up... Something about going for a change of airs being good for the head if I recall it properly.

Seems illogical to give this kind of rating to a novel for a reason like that.
I can understand the part of disliking this specific type of character, but I doubt the reader would truly appreciate this kind of development.

I assume the hatred of the "beta MC" comes from the fact that the reader tries to identify with the protagonist of the novel they're reading, in that case, most people that hate the character would've probably dropped the novel by the time this twist happens, which means only those that enjoy identifying with those characters would still be reading... Leading to them feeling hurt over the development... Doesn't seem that interesting to me.
That said, I don't understand the hate for it either, if used appropriately, the author can make an interesting development with this kind of situation, refusing to accept its occurrence just because, is... A waste I believe, one would give up on a story that has a good potential because of an occurrence that shouldn't really be a problem.

Just trying to understand the things I don't really identify with, I have read those "beta MCs" before and never had a problem with them... So I tried imagining the reasoning why one would hate them and tried to find a conclusion.

I however, am not sure if my own conclusions on that post are valid, as I don't understand the hate of NTR either, which means I had to once again use assumptions on that scenario... I did try to be logical while making them however.
