I just finished reading an interesting idea for elections. The book postulated if a society President or equivalent were to be elected by a lottery of all the citizens of the country. How would that country be under said leader? You would have better chance of getting a worth while leader I believe. As the Dalai Lama has said "a leader is found, not chosen". Think of it. A person seeking fame, wealth, and power are usually corrupted. But a person living a full-filling life of a common man. A man of the people who know their plight. Don't get me wrong their are always a possibility of getting a really corrupted individual, but there are safeguards. Especially we're terms of only four to eight years and having congress watching. I have high hopes of finding a leader to admirer. Someone to take us back to space or some other visionary goal. But hay I'm a dreamer at heart.

    What do you guys think?

It could work out but the problem is a president's work load I can be working a cash register the I'm suddenly signing papers all day it could but most likely wouldn't work out

The vast majority are under qualified. Leading a country is most likely hundreds of times harder than you think. Most people don't even have a clue what's going on in the world.

It's more likely to get hit by a lightning strike then to win the lottery

There would have to be requirements like making above a certain salary/high school diploma+/above 18 etc... because the probability of a park bum being chosen will be fairly high. But other than that, anything will be better than what murica has now

But this random Person would then have to suddenly learn all about being president, deal with Long time politicians that have no reason to respect them and countless other results of having no other prior qualifications, knowledg or experience in government work.

I don't trust elections where its too corrupted. Its a race with a predetermined winner. Where nothing is true and everything is permitted.

But if said person doesn't have the capability to lead, won't all decisions and stuff end up being made by their advisors and basically turn them into a puppet leader? Then if the advisors are shitty or evil, we're screwed too.

Good person doesn't necessarily equal good president... not saying evil people make good leaders either tho. but I imagine the stress of having a whole nation on your shoulders and being tasked with making potentially world-changing decisions would be psychologically damaging. Having common people in positions of power all of a sudden (especially when they're ignorant or unable to wield it properly (or worse, if they learn to abuse it)) would make me feel uneasy. Just imo.

I'm sorry but the current president of America is Donald Trump. When that happened the job seemed 87% less challenging.

If we lived in a mono-culture with the same political ideology and everyone working towards the same goal, then it may work. Its just like how socialism wont work until we have become a post-scarcity society.

There are qualifications to being President. Also a President can create his own cabinet. So he's not alone he has advisers. There are only so many careers that match being the President of the U.S.A. and most of them are corrupted. To tell you the truth 4 year terms is so short that no one can really learn the job before he retires. Would it really be so bad to have a lottery?

The most efficient method is to enslave the Government by holding ALL their assets and their family's academic recognition hostage (easiest from of bribery is "scholarships" and degree/doctorates I.e. London School of Economics) if the country prospers under their term, they can be free. If it stagnates and goes into recession, they and their entire families are also free but have no passport to leave the country and are legally only able to work in menial jobs.

There would have to be some condition for it to even approach plausible. The issue is that you don't want a 43-year-old guy named Chuck from Alabama who thinks that evolutionists are heretics and Muslims are the antichrist in the white house if you are anywhere on the liberal side. The issue could be just as bad from the liberals if a hardcore SJW gets the office. There is immense potential for people who would make good presidents getting elected but at the same time, there are people worse than Ol' Trumpo who are confined to their dinner table to spew their crazy.

Trump is already use to running a multinational company that has approximately 500 entities under it, which is a lot more experience than the average person.
