Hello, I'm getting a little tired of the stupid behavior I see in many xianxia : - Main character behaving like a psycho and killing everyone who slightly disagrees with him. (I hate these mc, seriously, even worse than apathetic mc.). - Higher ups in the sect who behave even worse than newbies. (basically ruled by their emotions and not their intelligence/wiseness) - No explanation on why they cultivate, apart from just for the sake of it. So... Is there any story where the cultivation group masters are actually wise and enlightened people? And where young pupils strive to become like that?
Tempered Immortal, it's a super xianxia where the the arcs are him learning an aspect of cultuvation. It's a realy dragged out read.
While strictly speaking a xuanhuan I would point to World of Cultivation, the world in general makes way more sense compared to most xianxai / xuanhuan. Other than that I'd say Legend of the Cultivation God. Though fair warning the story is very meticulous (some people would say slow, but I prefer meticulous), and it's sadly not currently being translated, otherwise it'd be in my top tier of stories, WoC is in that tier for the record.
A lot of the older works from before the days of the internet are pretty good but it's often times hard to get a good translation for thrm
+1 on World of Cultivation and immortal i really like Legend of the Cultivation God... hope it gets updated soon. has it been dropped?
It was dropped a long time ago, the last translators said they'd drop it when their last chapter came out, so basically between then and now it's been dropped. So basically since 14-01-2017 it's been dropped.
Thanks for all the answers BTW, is the overabundance of crazy psycho mc a choice of translation, or are the Chinese Xianxia/Wuxia/Xhunuan full of these? Seems great, but translation is abandoned since 2016 Already reading it, I need to catch up. Already reading that one : yes, what I liked is that the mc is a non nonsense character, down to earth peasant. Seems like abandoned too. Interesting... another one is my to read list Seems like comedy, but I'll try it. Read that one, it's indeed great
Please make your reading list public. How about moving away from CN cultivation and trying KR cultivation? Dragon Maken War
You could give Legend of the Great Saint a try (even if it is atm on a 'no idea what I will do' status by the translator) ... he doesn't kill everyone's nine generations, nor their dogs and chickens. Another one would be Only I shall be Immortal - but sadly it hasn't been updated for AGES ...
Done! Already reading it, and I love it (because mc is wise and clever), but I'm not sure it's about cultivation? At least it wasn't in c66 where I stopped. First seems really good, I really like when it's not full of genocidal killings and other "courting death" for every little thing nonsense, but the non updated part is sad
It is cultivation. Even has a cultivation tag. The whole concept of building up rings by the heart, using techniques to improve bloodflow, mental techniques, taking in energy to grow. Cultivation. It even mentions Dragon Demon Qi
Maybe, or maybe because cultivation there is treated as part of normal life. So it keeps a low key focus and more focus on the plot and character development. They also don't go screaming out fancy technique names and no peanut galleries.
Ze Tian Ji It's definitely one of my all-time favorites. It's very different from most of the mainstream novels out there; the characters are well-developed, the scenes are delightfully intricate, and the world is fascinating. It reads like a true, publishable novel with martial arts elements. Oh, and the main character has an amazing reason for cultivating. It's not the standard "I want to see the top of martial arts" or even "I want to control my own fate". Although it has some similarities to the latter, the concept itself is abstracted and developed throughout the novel.
