Uh he killed more people than that. Gustave was originally a pet of a Warlord in Africa who used to feed him all those that opposed him by forcing them into the water. But I guess they wouldn't want people to know this the Warlord also insured the safety of foreign jewelers as well as other foreign nationals hunting trips [legal or illegal]. Until he got killed by his right hand guy after that it gets sketchy. The movie Primeval was based on it. It was their first attempt to kill him

This sounds like a myth. I find it incredibly difficult to believe there's a lack of concern despite its victim count. Over 300 victims and the authorities has not done anything about it? In fact, someone like Ronnie Sumiller would've immediately flown over and captured this bugger to boost his fame. If the rumors were true, this would've been an incredible capture! Chances are, Gustave is most probably an invention made up by Patrice Faye, the very herpetologist who named this fabled crocodile. Who is Patrice Faye?
