    The amount of katana or just plain "sword"s(no further details) I come across in novels has been grinding my gears for a while now. Especially considering a lot of these characters go off to fight dragons and such, these tiny, light weapons get more and more ridiculous. I'd particularly like to see more large, heavy, two-handed weapons. For example:

    Zweihander

    Length up to 5.9 ft
    Weight 4.4–7.1 lbs

    Wolf Teeth Mace

    Length 6.3 ft
    Weight 8.2 lbs

    Guan Dao
    [​IMG]
    Length 5-6 ft
    Weight 15-20 lbs

    Halberd
    [​IMG]
    Length 5-6 ft
    Weight 3-7 lbs

    and given we're working within the genre of fantasy, I'd like to see more Heavy Swords

    I should also mention that despite what I listed the Gaun Dao's weight as, it was actually also used in a non-combative way as a strength test for elite soldiers to pass. The heaviest known Guan Dao was 183 lbs.

    Martial World's MC use halberd for some time
    MC of ATG uses heavy sword. 1-2 MC uses it as well, can't remember them
    I have never seen any other mentioned weapons in novels(translated ones)

    And for those haters, let's not convert this thread into bash ATG

    Well considering you're in a fantasy world, the durability and weight of metals used to craft swords becomes purely fantastical meaning you can borrow any trait from any weapons and paste it onto a normal sword. But yes it does get annoying even if it's magical, no one wants to see a dragon killed with a magical toothpick like a certain of God of light killed by a thorn.

    I'm kind of thinking of lances , but either you take out your enemies in a single charge or you die. It makes a short battle scene, not very popular.

    Coilkng Dragons weapons of Linley were and are still the most vivid images of weapons an mc used to date. :p
