What xianxia novel has the best power system?

Through all the xianxia books you've read which power and leveling system made you think "WOW now that's pretty clever" or "Damn I never thought of it this way this system by itself makes the novel worth reading".

It doesn't have to be one that's already being translated.

 

In my opinion I liked stellar transformations power system... Might be because it was one of the first I have read that had a "cultivation system"

 

I also agree but my reasoning is more because he created his own system instead.

Might just be me, but I think the best cultivation systems aren't simply non-generic, but do something different with each realm of cultivation.

Not going as far to say it's original but the way it introduces 'elements' I like

I actually use it as a standard in my head when some cultivation systems confuse me... Or that don't make sense (Emperor's domination) I usually ignore it and use stellar transformations cultivation system in my mind lol...

 

I think Heavenly Jewel Change's power system is pretty unique in terms of cultivation and abilities. It isn't just the usual Qi Condensation, Core Formation, Nascent Soul thing that everyone else does, but the increase of strength and abilities per level make more sense. (Speaking of novels by TJSS, Douluo Dalu also has a unique power system with clearly numbered levels with clear benefits after breaking through each bottle neck.)

I also think that World of Cultivation's Yao and Mo cultivation systems are pretty interesting since they're different from the normal human power systems. (Yao cultivate spiritual awareness and the mind, Mo cultivate the body.)

These aren't xianxia, but I really enjoy eating/grinding power systems like in Re:Monster and Kumo desu ga? Nani ka?, but usually they end with the main character having too many skills to keep track of, and becoming too OP.

Some novels use "understanding the Dao" as a way to cultivate and level up (like in Desolate Era), but breakthroughs via "enlightenment" are hard to quantify in terms of realistic steps.

Edit: Just want to say that I'm aware that WoC and the series by TJSS aren't typical "xianxia"... they're more "xuanhuan." The problem with asking for a xianxia novel with a unique cultivation system is that xianxia typically means that it has to include the usual immortal cultivation and the dao.

not really sure you ED can count. not only does the MC skip past most of the ranks, the ranks aren't even properly explained, they are just vague ranks that actually don't matter at all because the MC who hadn't even started yet surpassed all the beginner stages.

Douluo Dalu and the other novels from the same author have a system similar to xianxia novels, but with other names. For example Douluo Dalu has 10 levels (as far as the current translation goes) the tenth one being becoming a god. SYWZ is basically the same, but the people have a measure of cultivation called spirit units (there is also external energy. Spirit energy is internal). The last one I've read from him is Skyfire Avenue, which has 9 levels for normal humans and then they become a paragon, which is something like half human half energy. The paragons also have more levels but that hasn't been translated (I think, I haven't read the translation in a long time).

Still, those aren't xianxia novels.

 

I prefer leveling systems over cultivation systems. I don't mind if they mix both, but when they start name dropping cultivation stage names, I forget them by end of the chapter.

 

Stellar Transformations and Coiling Dragon, damn those tehniques were epic, I could actually envision them.

 

Tales of Demons and Gods is good.
Long Live Summons is kind of interesting too.
