In Peace
There is a story that I know
And it's about someone who I've let go.
She was like my partner in crime
But lived in a different time.
I loved her maternal instinct
But it was very much distinct.
She showered me with love constantly,
But it stung like poison ivy.
As I grew older
She would only become smaller.
The hands that used to fit mine
Became weak to my hold, no longer fine.
Soon, her smell and her smile
Reached a distance over a mile.
She would call for me anyplace
But never remembered my face.
We had faced somber rainy days
But our hearts would have stayed ablaze.
Now, the darkness overtook her
And all I can remember now is just a blur.
