It was possible to use healing magic to instantaneously heal a wound as well. However, healing magic fundamentally used the patient’s natural healing abilities thus the bigger the wound, the bigger the repercussions. If the patient’s stamina were low, the results would reflect this outcome.

Potions, on the other hand, gained their powers from the water of life thus had no repercussions when used. It would work just as effectively even if it were a life-threatening injury.

However, because the water of life was originally an intangible energy made tangible only through the use of alchemy skills, all potions created by using the water of life would eventually return to being just a medicinal tonic even if the potion effects were stabilized using ‘dosage stabilization’. Within a year, the energy would disperse and return to its origins, the energy vortex. The energy vortex would continue its natural flow as it nurtured the flora and fauna of the land before eventually returning to the land as they met their demise.

In addition to this, another disadvantage with potions was because they were made using the water of life, the further they went from the vortex from which they were created, the quicker they would lose their effectiveness.

When compared, healing magic required less magic to heal than low-level potions. The process was also simpler and since it didn’t require any ingredients, the procedure was much more cost effective.

As there were many healers who would sell their services to earn a few coins on the streets of the garrison city, the price for low-level potions were also relatively cheap.

It's short. I'm bad with run-on sentences - I like them as is. Hurts my little brains when I try to cut them up. My teachers used to remind me - there is a period for a reason. No cuteness in this part either. I'm dying for lack of cuteness.
